Who else is getting hit with this early blast of winter weather?

Northern Michigan already had one snow day and the West side of Michigan got pounded last night with snow. Windchills are well below zero here in SE Michigan and I am NOT ready for this crap again!

What’s it looking like around you? I know the midwest is getting hit hard but I think the coasts are avoiding it (??)

My daughter went ice skating on a lake earlier this week in Washington.
I still had bulbs I wanted to put in, but the ground has been frozen for the last couple weeks.
I’ve been trying to find dog boots for my boxer mix, since they lose so much heat through their paws, but not having much luck.

A station in Traverse City, MI was calling it “fluffy rain” because they refuse to say the s-word until at least mid-November (this was a few weeks ago).

I let my dog out to potty this morning and she took one step, turned back and looked at me like “Mommy! It’s COLD! Don’t make me do this!”. She ran straight back to her crate with her blankets right next to the heater. Breaking out her coat tonight.

We had a bit of slushy snow on the ground when I woke up yesterday morning but then it warmed up and poured all day. The cold front came through at some point last night and it’s about 30 out and very windy. I wore my down jacket for the first time today.

I still have a maple tree and a big chinese elm in the front yard full of leaves and leaves all over the lawn (H has been out of town since Saturday so no raking was done on the weekend.) The pot of geraniums on my front steps appears to have bit the dust.

So glad we moved to Tampa- weather like this is one major reason! Our version of COLDDDD is 52 for a high today. Back to 80 on the weekend. No longer suffering from high heat and humidity this month.

I remember both childhood and adulthood different parts of Wisconsin snowed in Thanksgivings, but this is way too early. The only people in favor are the deer hunters next week who want the snow cover. Our door is open to friends and relatives this winter.

My best friend lives in Tampa (after living in the UP for five years). He keeps sending me screenshots of the weather to get me to come down and visit. All it’s doing is making me hate the winter even more! lol

It was colder in southern NJ this morning than it was in Mass . It is 26 now…brrrr. Way too early for this. I forgot that we ever had a summer since it took so long to get there

The NY Thruway is closed from Rochester to the PA border. Over 100 miles. Some towns south of Buffalo are going to have 72 inches of snowfall by the time this lake effect ‘event’ is over.

We passed through their on Sunday on our way south to Hilton Head. Not a flake was falling, until yesterday and it continued today and in some areas is still going strong. The National Guard has been called out to clear the Thruway and rescue the people in hundreds of stranded cars. So very glad that we left when we did! Of course, on the northern shores of Lake Ontario, there isn’t this lake effect.

It’s 24 right now in Georgia. The dog doesn’t want to go outside and the cats have left the sun room( not heated) for a warmer room. This is a big deal for them since they usually spend 99% of their time in the sun room. ~O)

Also my 16 year old wore jeans to school today without complaining! He’s a “I wear shorts unless it snows” type of guy.

EK, I have been shopping for booties for my chihuahua, who embarrassed himself at the dog park the other day by refusing to walk in even an inch of snow. (Of course my Great Pyrenees mix LOVES it.)

If it makes people feel better I am in South Florida now and it is in the 60s and raining.

@Onward. If you go to the smiley in the upper right corner, the box drops down with emoticons. click the one you like. Coffee is one of them. :)]

According to the Capital Weather Gang (Washington Post meteorologists – if you are into weather, they are great), “The average temperature over the contiguous U.S. fell to a frigid 19.4 degrees F. at 7 a.m. according to a dataset used by forecasters. All 50 U.S. states, including Hawaii, recorded a low temperature at or below 32 degrees.”
