No, winter, it's too early!

@GA2012MOM , in 1979 I was not quite here - I was in college in mid-Michigan and home was southeastern Michigan - but yes, the Blanchard river is famous for flooding!!

My car registered -4 driving into work, wind chill -25. Great day to be in the office with my little heater on and get some work done!

20 below zero (real temperature, not wind chill) this morning. I took a photo of the thermometer and posted it on Facebook. I think that’s the coldest I can remember since we moved to Maine in 1986.

The hot tub was so much fun last night. It was “only” three below zero at that point. Ice formed in our hair! But it feels amazing.

I left my glasses on the windowsill above my bed last night. They were FREEZING when I put them on.

Early or not, it’s too darn cold. We have single digit temps in the deep South. I feel sorry for anyone working outdoors. Our trash collector’s truck broke down Monday before he got to our house and he was due to come this morning. I called the dispatch office yesterday and suggested that he skip this week and wait until we see more reasonable temps next Monday.

DS has been working from home most of this week due to the sub-zero temps and wind chill advisories (Chicagoland). Today he got an email that a water main broke in the basement of his office building and everyone got sent home. So he was ahead of the game. And here I was concerned that he shouldn’t take advantage of their generous work-at-home provisions since he’s been working less than a year.

Marilyn- you need to get back to San Diego.
While much of the nation is freezing here on he central coast of Ca we have had two days of almost record heat and today looks like it will be another warm one.
Having been born and raised my entire life in Ca I can’t imagine such cold temps. Stay safe.

mom60, believe me, I’m trying! All we need is to find the right house, but no matter what this is our last winter here since we need to vacate the house by early June. Fortunately both DH and DS are willing to go out and forage for food.

It was -14 here in NH with a horrible wind chill. We’ve warmed up to 6 degrees now but the wind seems to have died down. Thank goodness.

^and to think I missed that by a week! Darn.

Now that the holidays are over I am so ready for spring and moving the clocks forward. We have had to live without hot water the last two weeks.
