Noise cancelling headphones

Is it worth it to buy expensive noise cancelling headphones?

Has anyone bought the Bose refurbished ones?

I bought the regular Bose noise cancelling headphones. I however, use them all the time (nearly every day) and have had them for a few years. They are the ones which cover the ear, but do not have a microphone.

I separately have a set of headphones which have a microphone. They say “Jabra” on them. I use these for weekly teleconferences. Because they are significantly smaller than the Bose, these are also the set that I take with me when I travel.

Link?

My husband has Apple AirPods, they are great for everyday but not for travel. I would love to buy him a pair that he can hear while flying. Hard to pass 8+ hours when you can’t listen to music or books or the entertainment system.

If I could find a pair that weren’t $350+ that would be even better.

I recently upgraded to these. By far the nicest pair I’ve ever had (I’m cheap) JBL is known for their speakers and these have been amazing - I use them a lot! Considering the price I’d buy them again - https://a.co/d/5QSsvdU

Amazon and Costco periodically discount their Bose headphones to $200. I’ve bought a few pairs as gifts on sale, and everyone loves them.

I prefer wired to Bluetooth and had a pair of the Quiet Comfort when they were wired - really liked them a lot.

I have bise noise cancellation earbuds. I’m like the sound and very quiet ( not as quiet as large cover ears).

I have noise cancelling Bose that I use when I fly. They are really good!

These can be used as wired, at least the ones I have. The problem with wired is that if your battery is low, can’t charge the phone and listen at the same time.

I bought the 2020 version of these headphones (Amazon link) and they still work great. They do have a mic and I find that helpful when I’m traveling and get a call. They have an adaptor cord/cable when Bluetooth isn’t needed.
Edit: Wow, they are expensive now! But I see they have used/refurbished available too.

The black ones are only $44!

The Sony ones look very nice. $349 is the same price as the Bose, I’ll keep them in mind and wait for a sale.

Wow. Good price!

What we found is that with over the ear headphones fit is very personal. I recommend trying a few models to pick the best one that works for the user.

Thanks, good advice. I think I’ll try the JBL ones and see how he likes them.

My husband is hard of hearing and the noise of the airplane makes it almost impossible to hear his AirPods even when the noise canceling in on.

That’s true.

I think those are refurbished - $100 is more accurate.

Yes, I was princess and the pea. At one point I had 6 sets i was trying - :face_with_spiral_eyes:

My husband and I both have these. We love them. Great for travel.

Do you mean to say that you can’t use the airpods to listen to the plane’s entertainment system? I believe there’s adapters for that now - basically you plug it into the headphone jack and it syncs to the airpods via bluetooth.

I use my airpods pro while flying but usually I’m on my ipad, not using the plane’s system.
