Nominations for best CC one-liners of all time

Erin’s Dad…That only shows the top schools. I was trying to find ALL the schools. I’ll see if I can find it using scansmom’s date.

Thanks.

On a current thread about how much our teenage sons talk to us :

“Thank you for letting me vent a little…am hoping this will somehow be resolved with GF by the holidays.”

To which Zoosermom wrote:

“In your position I’d be hoping for a Turkey Drop.”

vlines:

“mom up”

This line was (accurately) (and not unkindly) aimed at my very own D. I can laugh about it now. :)

Aside from the “I think I broke my poodle” title which is the funniest ever…

this is a memorable title…

*One of my tenants just dropped dead-what to do? *

It’s one of those threads that you have no idea what you’re going to read until you open it.

another great CC line…
*Raising a teenager is like nailing Jello to a tree *

Just spotted one: “You really need to land that helicopter.”

From Massmomm, on another active thread.

I’m another poster who remembers Jamimom with great fondness. Also Marite for wisdom and Sluggbugg for hilarity.

There are so many really funny, erudite posters on this board. Thank you all!

I keep thinking of various one liners I could post but the problem is knowing whether they are intentionally funny or dead serious. It is often hard for me to tell.

From a thread about the high cost of vet care:

“We had an experience with an emergency vet earlier this year…The entire ordeal set us back about $3000. We nearly changed his name to Week at the Beach!” (mamazilla)

“We could have opted for a total hip replacement…We decided a total dog replacement was a better option.” (eastcoast101)

I remember this one:

“Does a loan have to be paid back after I graduate?”

These days I am waiting for the turkey drop…too bad. I like her just not her drama LOL.

I didn’t go back and read them all, but I do like the ones that say:

“I got a 2380 on my SAT, will any good college accept me now?”

I know this wasn’t meant to be humorous (probably), but this struck me as funny. It’s a comment toward the beginning of a controversial thread.

“This thread will not end well.”

Or
“getting the popcorn ready.”

Love this thread, and Schmaltz makes me laugh the most frequently.

“[summary of 90% of parents forum posts] blah blah blah my kid this that, my kid, did i mention my kid? my kid is great. my kid is a genius. my kid did this and he also did that. i love my kid. my kid is at Harvard. what’s hard for your kid isn’t hard for my kid. oh by the way, something mildly related to the topic [/summary]”

DoinSchool

I nominate eastcoastcrazy as our Official Archivist. Also, I wish he(she) would write a monthly thread with “The Best of CC” for ____(month, year).

"Rigor is in the eye of the beholder’'

From the Colleges You/Child Crossed Off After Visiting thread:

“I thought DC was sort of placed where it was because it was neither north nor south. Sort of the Ryan Seacrest of locations.” Schmaltz

“Bottom line: If you send your child to UCSB, they will become a well-educated young man or woman who will be addicted to alcohol and/or drugs and unable to thrive in a traditional relationship.” scootergal

“Vanderbilt: Although I had Mono and strep throat while I visited, and there was a tornado warning, I loved it.” Kmags93

In response to “I thought Princeton was snooty and pretentious.”:
“Isn’t that the whole reason for going to Princeton? I think it’s even in their charter that they must be snooty and pretentious.” Schmaltz

“I’ve often thought that if colleges were run by Disney, all tours would end in the gift shop.” Lafalum84

“You would not believe our tour guide. She was wearing a woman’s slip over a pair of sweat pants… She had 3 enormous mats in her hair. I couldn’t tell if they were dread locks that had grown out, or she just never brushed her hair. She said she really had found herself after coming to New College. I could only think of Archie Bunker, “Edith, stifle yourself!”” Reedsmyth

Regarding the tour guide at New College, apparently, she found herself, but lost her brush.

Apologies in advance for shameless self-congratulating, but I still smile when I think about the clever, quick wit in the “meta” thread (a totally ludacrous and amasingly funny, tongue-in-cheek thread from 2008 which gets resurrected periodically). Mythmom said her kid was a half child of Poseidon. Violadad’s following post included comments about gods and a comment that “size did not matter” to which I responded that he had Venus envy. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parent-cafe/501191-meta-thread-save-us-all-time-20.html
