So one of my friends is preparing for IITJEE and is thinking of changing to a non attending school (a CBSE school where you do not attend the classes but give only the exams…) . These school DO NOT have an admission counselor. Since the teachers there do not know him he cannot get any rec’s form there either and he does not think his old school (the one he attended grades 9 to 11 in) would give him recomendations after him leaving the school. Would it be possible for him to apply abroad?

Could he get rec’s from his coaching teachers and hire an external counselor for admissions?

Thanks a lot!

Can someone please help us? This is really important!

Sorry to bump again but this is really needed- i would be extremely thankful if someone could help me out as the session is ending…

he could definitely hire an external counselor but as far as the recs from coaching teacher go, im not sure

apply as homeschooling student

Definitely apply as a home schooled student, because that’s what you’re doing, studying at home (or hiring private teachers), you’re just using your school as a test center. I did the same too, and the adcoms looked at me positively (they think that you’re self motivated). It’s a pro, not a con. Just ask recommendations from your coaching teachers -remember, they ask for recommendations from instructors, employers or so- and a private tutor is an instructor and can tell a lot about your subject proficiency to your applied college. Similarly, you can get a rec from an elder who knows you very well and had something to do with you. (I got a rec from the secretary of the NGO where I volunteered), also you don’t need to hire a counselor, Indian schools don’t have counselors anyways. Remember, you’re home-schooled, standard rules don’t apply to you!!!

he should focus on his iitjee preperation and if he really aspire for it he can stay in the same school and manage to study well as the school teachers do help and motivate some times if we go to non attending schools might make him aim less now the pattern has also changed i guess you need to score good in school too so the known teachers might provide u with better internal nos.

He can hire external counselor. You can contact Education USA. If they have a center in the state where you live, you can find all info here -> usief.org.in
