Non-Sports People?

Izzy, are you a coxswain??? My brothers did crew - it’s boss.

If you’re really that worried about it, and you can’t find anything at your school. I’d look into an outside-of-school sport of some sort, like a martial art. I’m a total geek, and I tried (American) football (left because of a-holes & coaches wanted me to be 300+ lbs), Cross Country (psycho coach and it didn’t really interest me), and Shot Put (needed surgery about a week in, I never really got into it). I eventually ended up doing Historical Fencing. My point is, if the school doesn’t have what you want, search your community.

Sports are a surrogate for war. Also, in the wild, survival depended on physical fitness. Not being “into” sports isn’t a good thing.

I’ll be honest, I know more about the finer details of Star Wars than the NFL, but I’ve always done sports. When you look good, you feel good, and vice versa. I feel sad for people who are afraid to do sports for fear of being chastised. Your body is your worldy avatar. More and more we learn that physical activity has positive effects on bodily health, the brain and even your genetics.

So, when we meet to do battle on the frozen tundra (and we will), only to be suddenly attacked by a group of marauding polar bears, I’m gonna be the one that gets away, and your ass is gonna be back there chowing down on my farts before getting mauled.

BE ACTIVE! Seriously, join an intellectual sport like XC, fencing or crew. All the people there will be just like you guys. Peace.

…And to add to that, I hope none of you aspiring business execs, surgeons or lawyers are so naive as to think that there isn’t a physical aspect to those careers paths.

How many successful, well-adjusted folks do you know who aren’t at least comfortable with being physical?

Yes. It’s SO boss. I want to do it in college…
