North Carolina State Early Action Class of 2030 Official Thread

Does NC state only consider the 1st choice major during EA? S26 has Engineering as 1st choice.

I am not sure about that. Good luck to your kiddo!

Thoughts on the email just sent out

Who knows?

Just got another email. Good luck to everyone!

Edit: my kid decided to keep taking a nap instead of looking in the portal. So hopefully we get around to it soon. Teenagers.

My son just received notice in the portal that his application is still under consideration and he will receive his decision on Jan . 30.

Good luck to your son! No email for us yet.

Son was just admitted engineering (OOS)- no mention of merit (does that mean there is none?). Very early notification- surprised!

We are in state and haven’t heard anything. I don’t think it’s a uniform in state release.

Son was accepted engineering 1st year, EE intent. We are in state, but it shows oos, so will need to fix that lol. Good luck everyone!!!

The student email told them its a limited release, and the majority will not be receiving a decision until the January date previously listed.

Accepted in-state, Honors admit. Honors wasn’t super obvious. It’s over on the right hand side of the portal, not in the acceptance letter. 4.0 UW, 1540 sat. Lots of leadership, sports. Applied to park.

Congratulations to those accepted! What a wonderful surprise. For those accepted, do you mind sharing stats, in or OOS and if to applied for park? Not sure if these releases are random or if they are targeting certain types.

Merit is extremely rare at NC State. They have a scholarship portal though, so students can apply for those. Mine was admitted into the honors college and wasn’t offered any merit.

Congrats! I was curious about Honors…our kid’s page says that they will receive an update about Honors in February, which might be what it said before today. Does anyone else have similar language? Do you think your kid’s admission to Honors already is due to being a Park semifinalist? Is that an auto-admit to Honors?

Our kid is in-state, 4.0/4.55, 33 ACT (submitted), 11 AP/DE classes (5’s on all APs), almost everything else honors, applied for Honors (nothing indicating one way or the other in the letter or portal today), did not apply for Park.

Congrats as well. I’m not sure, honestly. I feel like I read somewhere that Park finalists are auto admit. I haven’t seen anywhere that says semifinalists are, it’s still a relatively large group at this stage, like 3-400 so I’m thinking it might not be totally correlated, since that’s such a large group.

I guess I could have googled it before asking :slightly_smiling_face: Looks like all finalists are auto-accepted into Honors, per the website. Not sure if that extends to some semi-finalists or what. Anyway, congrats! I’m sure that’s a nice one to have already!

All good! The whole process is such a mystery everywhere. Awesome your kiddo got in early, hopefully good news on honors in February!
