No you won’t get in trouble. These types of tricks have been around for years. Also, the school is focused on getting thousands of students loaded into the system.

First letter of FIRST name. Also, if someone at the school has the same letter combination then you may have numbers inserted into your ID so do not freak out if it’s not working. Good luck to everyone!
Oh my gosh. I’m so sorry. That was proably why it was not working.
Updated Directions (again), major error on my part about step 3, it is the first letter of first name for the first character in the username, accidently typed last name. I bet this will help! Thanks to @RitaRivas for letting me know.
To see your decision early:
Step 1: Go to your APPLICANT PORTAL and locate the Student ID. Write down the last 4 digits of it. This will be needed later.
Step 2: North Carolina State University :: MyPack Portal Go here and click red button that says “Unity ID Login”
Step 3: Your username is first letter of first name, first letter of middle name, first six letters of last name no spaces. So if you were John S. Williams it world be JSWILLIA. I am not sure what to do if last name is not long enough or if you don’t have middle name. Sorry 
Step 4: Your Password is the last 4 digits of your id that you got from applicant portal in step 1. That is followed by your birthday. So if you were id was 4245667676 and your birthday was 08/13, then the password 76760813.
Step 5: Click Login, you will be prompted to set up security questions, and after that can set up a new password.
Step 6: After new password is set up go here again: North Carolina State University :: MyPack Portal (click red button that says Unity ID Login) and login with same username and new password
Step 7: After you login and answer the privacy thing, you will be in and see several tabs like planning & enrollment, student accounts etc. If you see these things, you are in!
Step 8: Wait about 1.5 hours. It will pop up an enrollment deposit notification within the student account box, it took a while for this to populate though.
