NCSU’s website states that the three possible EA outcomes are accepted, deferred, denied.

What Does “Deferred for Final Review” Mean? | Undergraduate Admissions
In the RD round, the four options appear to be: accepted for fall, accepted for spring (these students are also automatically added to the waitlist for fall), waitlisted, denied.
Did NC State release honors info with admission?
Same question here…anyone know? online they say feb 23…but curious if they have released any decisions like other schools do in early batches.
I haven’t seen anyone post here about honors decision, so my guess is no.
On a related note, my son didn’t apply for honors when he initially applied (I couldn’t convince him to do another essay for a school he wasn’t sure he would get in to). He was accepted EA but I notice that the apply for honors button is still there and active. Looking at their website, it looks like honors applications for EA candidates have come and gone, but since the button is still active, do you think they can still apply? If so, does anyone know if this is an honor’s program that is “worth it” - it seems like some honors programs have more to offer than others. NC State has risen to the top of his list, but I don’t want to encourage him to do another essay if it wouldn’t be worth participating should he be fortunate enough to get in.
thanks. i hear mixed things about the honors program, and had a similar experience on the button being there for a bit…i think it doesn’t close until RD closes out. our button says submitted, yet she can still edit her essay. kinda strange.
No, it will come later, and I think when they do, all students will be notified, so anyone who applied will get a yes or no.
My daughter got in in December (Park) and got her honors invite about two weeks later.
Similar situation for my daughter regarding applying to Honors College. DIdn’t apply with application but button is still available. Based on what I have read, there’s no financial benefit, you actually have to pay a few hundred extra. There is course registration priority but its no different than a kid who comes in with a lot of credit for AP/IB. The Honors dorm is further away from where most freshman are. Students do seem to like the extra programs that they have access to and they end up with more connections with professors. Would love any feedback!
Hey! You are a great candidate! My in-state son was deferred last year. Had a very similar GPA as you and was test-optional. He applied as biology major with business as 2nd major. After his deferral, he submitted mid-year grades, wrote a letter of continued interest, and changed his major to exploratory studies. He was accepted in March! You might want to think about Exploratory Studies….it’s much less competitive for spots and then you can CODA into your major after the first year.
Best of luck to you!!
Where did he send his letter of continued interest to?
Oh okay!! Thank you! My question is: Am I allowed to submit a letter of continued interest? They only said to submit a mid year grades and nothing else.
admitted student to COE just got invited to apply for franklin scholars program (essentially just a dual major with the humanities)…does anyone know if this comes with a merit award if accepted? also, does franklin connect to honors in any way (we are waiting to hear on honors too)? thanks!
A quick Google shows this:
thanks, but this is not the same as the ben franklin scholars and seems to require a communications focus.
was hoping to get some non-google search results from someone who has first hand knowledge of the program…using pack assist, i see this…
finalist notif came out for park. did your daughter end up being a finalist?
No. She was actually kind of relieved because she’s been diehard UNC her whole life and was ready to commit there. She also said she felt total imposter syndrome during the process, and thought there were better candidates. She was worried about spending four years feeling inadequate.
So your daughter decided to go to UNC instead of NC State?
She did. She wants to study theater and chemistry and there was a clearer path to do both at UNC.
Congrats! Both schools are great and your daughter will definitely like UNC.
They really are! We feel so lucky that she had good options and that both are such a good deal in state
