How bad are the chances of getting off the waitlist? I canât find it on their Common Data set anywhere lol
My daughter, 2024, was deferred in EA and just received a RD acceptance to the global scholars program. Her grades were good (sorry I donât have the numbers here) though her SATs were not stellar. She had several AP courses and her grades for those were outstanding. I prodded her for weeks and then finally last week she sat down and wrote a letter of continuing interestâno idea if that helped(?) No merit aid apparently. Now Iâd like to find out more about the Global Scholars programâdoes anybody here have experience or insight about that?

The past few years no one was admitted from the waitlist to Boston. Some were offered NU In.

I think itâs the yield protection due to geographic factor. I found West coast kids more likely to get in USC and waitlisted/deferred by NU, and vice versa for East coast kids. In your S24âs case, they guessed even if they gave him admission, he most likely wonât attend, and that will increase their admit rate.

After lurking around College Confidential all year, we fully expected this result and are not at all surprised.
He has some good EA options already, including a full merit scholarship to one school, but he did really like Northeastern and wrote a detailed letter about why with initial application and a follow up LOCI as well.
Congrats to all who got in! It seems like a really neat school.

Waitlisted but not surprised! Wrote a LOCI after deferral but I got into some other schools I would pick over NEU so I am happy with the result

This is the first waitlist we received, not surprise though. Yes, we are from So Cal, feel like it is hard to be accepted in East coast schools.
