Northeastern Class of 2028 Official Thread

My son’s classmate was accepted for RD. Solid ECs, good student with good grades but not the absolute best. Top 10% of class, took AP classes but not tons. I believe Northeastern yield protects if you don’t apply EA. Just my opinion.

My D24 was rejected after EA deferral, among other high stats applicants seemingly mostly from out of state. Not surprised for their decisions for yield protection. Northeastern ranks low on her college list. Congrats to all admitted students!

I’d be curious to see what NEU acceptance rate is for RD and exclude EA and ED rounds.

Any input on econ major program at northeastern? Thank you

My son is a combined major in Economics and Business Admin. He enjoyed his economics classes more. One of the benefits of Northeastern is the opportunity to do combined majors across schools. He found co-ops fairly easily and has a job offer after graduation from one of them but wants to leave MA. He did a great econ Dialogue of Civilization (summer study abroad) in Rwanda.

D24 got accepted for CS RD but Oakland first year. She is an international student and also has UMASS CS with 14k/year scholarship. I think UMASS will be better choice. Any suggestion will be helpful. She also has NCSU, IU and few other safeties. She is also inclined towards UMASS.

Got deffered EA and then rejected. Didn’t submit a loci. Im oos from the Midwest. Kind of bummed with this after getting waitlisted from 3 schools

So did northeastern not release decisions in waves this year?

Son accepted RD for NUIn after being deferred. He can go to Boston campus in Spring. Don’t really understand this and he didn’t ask for this option.

From ED rounds, ~2,000 (ED1: 1,400 + ED2: 600) spots were already offered. In Fall 2023, ~2,600 started in Boston.

Maybe 500-600 spots left in RD assuming nearly 100% enrollment of ED admits. So they probably only offered 1,000-2,000 RD spots. (assuming RD yield of 30-50%) Out of 90,000+ EA/RD applications!

D24 accepted NU In
Very excited but also trepidatious about first semester abroad. Would love to hear more from all who know about it.

EA deferred and turned in a LOCI just 1 day before due date (3/7) so don’t think they even read it, lol. Does turning it in earlier make a difference, or improve chances for her first choice campus (Boston)? Please answer if anyone knows.

This year EA and RD decisions all came out in one batch, a change from previous years.

Reading this thread and the other on CC, no one appears to have been accepted into Boston in the RD round - at least on CC which skews a typical higher acceptance rate than average. Will be interesting to see if they announce any stats.

where do you find merit?

If your student was waitlisted, are they accepting a spot on the list? I feel like having to wait until August to find out would be a nightmare. Might just be better to forget about NEU.
