Am I correct that it’s not in the gritty part of Oakland, too?

Well… it is a protected little green oasis, and doesn’t feel gritty at all on campus. I think the area immediately surrounding it might be gritty, but I’m not super familiar with that area of Oakland. Students can have cars on campus, and there is also transportation available to other parts of the bay area where students like hanging out.

Son go in for CS & ES combined major. From CA public HS. 3.97UW GPA/4.6W GPA; applied Test optional. Got into the Boston campus. Good luck to all.

If all would list your stats, you can help future applicants - vs just saying I got in or didn’t. GPA (unweighted), test score, # of APs, etc.

NU.in does not mean he was a weak applicant or rejected from engineering. He was fully admitted to Northeastern with engineering intent. NU.in is a structured first-year abroad pathway Northeastern uses for strong students when Boston engineering capacity (labs, housing, sequencing) is tight. During the NU.in semester/year he takes Northeastern-approved, engineering-aligned courses (math, physics, computing, etc.), then transitions to Boston and formally enters the College of Engineering. He earns the same Northeastern engineering degree, has the same access to co-ops, internships, and majors, and there is no NU.in notation or stigma once on campus. By sophomore year no one can tell who started NU.in. It’s a capacity/yield decision in a very competitive engineering pool — not a question of his ability or readiness.

Did anyone in-state get into the Boston campus? I’m wondering because many I’ve asked in-state have gotten alternate campuses.
We’re in state. Two of my DDs classmates got into the Boston campus for non-STEM majors-architecture & business.
A little in shock - accepted NU in for Art. Honestly only applied last minute because of the fee waiver and because I thought there was no additional essay. I was kind of wrong about that for art. There were lots of little things to do beyond the portfolio and she completed some…but not all…of them. So I really didn’t think she would get in at all. I don’t think it’s really an art school, even though they do offer a BFA and art courses through Tufts/SMFA. But the international opportunity is cool. Stats: 3.6UW/3.9W, 34 ACT, 6 AP and a few honors classes. Some leadership EC, nothing major. Lots of art awards but nothing huge.

DD got in NUin and Honors College for Architecture. 4.75W, 13 APs, 2 DCs, ECs with leadership, many fit to major, TO, did send in optional materials (portfolio/resume).

D admitted to NUin (3.98 UW, 1520 SAT, etc).
She does not want NUin, so yay, we can cross this school off her list! 
(seriously, I’m happy that they made the decision easy for her!)
