Northeastern Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2024 Admission

It feels very surreal to have this part over. 3 1/2 years of studying, taking test, sports, service days, tutoring, etc. has paid off. Congratulations to all of you!

Going forward if my math is correct, given a yield of 25%-35%, there are very few acceptances to give out to the 95,000 remaining applicants, which unbelievably still includes Early Decision 2

I would have your kid contact admissions and ask if they really need CSS for merit, AFAIK they don’t. Of course, they could have a new policy this year.

Accepted to Boston campus!

Question: there is no tab for merit, does that mean did not receive any?

Also, in the tab for financial aid, the letter said that they are missing documents required with the CSS form before they can make a financial aid award, (which is incorrect, we see the date these documents were received by NEU on the portal), could this be the reason why no merit yet either?

yes. Very likely they will nudge the EAs towards ED2. Going forward, it’d be unlikely to get into NU via any other route than ED, alas…

My son was accepted to NU.in! ACT: 33 GPA: 3.8, weighted 4.3. Health Science major (pre med track). NU.in was his first choice.

Did you mention looking for merit aid to them or was this unprompted on their behalf?

unprompted. I believe they will award some merit to all admitted students. They are asking for CSS to determine how much.

Thanks!

D accepted to Boston! Business.

WGPA low 4s. Only a couple of APs. No Tests submitted. ECs not that many but one ā€œmaybe unique/impressiveā€ one. No FA.

Lurking here was a good asset. Thanks especially to @TomSrOfBoston for all the great info along the way.

They Do Not offer merit to all accepted students. About 10% of accepted students receive merit. The merit is done on a wholistic evaluation of the application.

Ok, thanks for correcting. You may be right. It’s not a dealbreaker for us.

S got into London Scholar. Anyone ?

Okay, so I get into Oakland campus and I don’t know it is non binding, I already sign the agreement and now the only thing left for me is to pay the enrollment fee. If I don’t pay that until May and early deicison 2 for other school and went to there, Do I count as vviolate the early deicison agreement?.., I really don’t know it is non binding at first

I was accepted to the honors program in Boston!
Stats:
GPA: I transferred schools so my freshman year is 4.95/4.00 (weighted) and rest is 5.69/7.00 or 3.85/4.00 (unweighted).
SAT: 1560
Major: Molecular Biology (Premed)
My ECs mostly focuses around theatre, art (photo), and queer activism. Overall, I honestly wasn’t doing that much. I do go to a selective boarding school which gave me a bit of an advantage.

On the application it asked you to choose your preferred location. If you chose Oakland or ā€œany campusā€ it is binding. If you chose Boston and were admitted to Oakland, it is non-binding.

Thank you, I know that it is non binding, but I submitted the agreement with northeastern said that I’ll go before I know it is non binding, and now the agreement had already submitted, I mean can I just not pay the enrollment fee and not going, do that count as violation or something

As long as your ED1 acceptance at northeastern isn’t binding, you can apply ED2 somewhere. Can you confirm that is the case…meaning you did not check Oakland or ā€˜any campus’ on the app?

If you didn’t check Oakland or any campus, you can email your AO and/or the general admissions address and tell them you are going to wait until May 1 to make your decision. Please use an online English grammar checker before sending the email.

Do you mean you accepted the acceptance to Oakland? If you want to keep the option open, but not be bound to it, I would call the school or email for clarification.
