Northeastern Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2024 Admission

It also has the wrong year, 2023. Likely a glitch and means nothing.

realized that afterwards lol, Thanks

@CAMama24 , My daughter did not get her ED. She was deferred. She was heartbroken, and it took her several weeks to recover. Since then we have thankfully had 4 target schools accept her and as we wait for 6 more, I am trying to be cool as a cucumber with her. I’m excited for whatever school she is into at the moment, and her emotions go back-and-forth from school to school as her favorite. On the day of a decision, I get nervous for her though but try not to show it too much.

@pearl0607 You can be admitted as an undecided student to the Explore program. Unlike some other colleges, they make it easy to change majors and do combined majors. For some other colleges, you are really locked in to or out of Engineering or CS but not with NU. The president talks at the freshman convocation about how many students change majors.

I saw “defer your application” on coding line 587 under the page source mode. I guess I am deferred.

i think everyone has that

Given over 98K applicants, I would think majority of us will be “deferred.” Curious to see if anyone has found “accepted” in their source code page.

Also, I don’t remember finding “defer your application” when I searched my page source mode yesterday. But then again, I was doing it in-between my classes, so was in a rush, could be I didn’t look for it yesterday.

how do you find source code

log in your portal page and right click on your screen (the drop down box pop up you will see view page source option, second to last)

Meaning this in a nice way, if you don’t know how to find the source code of a web page you won’t be able to interpret the source code. Seriously, it’s not worth your time. You will drive yourself mad and it really doesn’t tell you anything.

Go ahead and read the source code, maybe you’ll learn something about HTML. But you won’t learn about your application status.

just for fun. we wont be heartbroken if we get rejected or deferred though

Fine, but what does that mean? Is it an option for you, the applicant, to defer to another year? It does not read that your application has been deferred.

You are right, without context, “defer your application” doesn’t mean much. It could mean admission telling me that “they will defer my application to RD,” or they are giving me the option to defer my application to next year? I guess I am just an anxious senior wanting to know the unknown. I have double legacy in NU, and all the cousins in my family went and are attending NU. Pressure is high for me to get the “acceptance” (not just from NU, also from my family.)

Best of luck Bearloop! Please remember, college is simply a consumer product that you purchase. I have known very successful people who went to mediocre schools, didn’t go to school, went to college late etc. I’ve also known Harvard and Princeton grads that had dismal careers. It’s not the college, it’s YOU.

If you are on CC you are paying attention to your options, and honestly that’s about 85% of the battle.

I certainly hope I was reading into nothing!
