i got accepted to northeastern boston campus EDII however they have said that i cant get a grade below C in any subjects but what if i get a D in maths and English will this lead to a guaranteed revoke of my application.

If they flat out told you that you can’t get a grade below a C, then yes, it could cause them to rescind your acceptance. Better get your grades up!

It’s gonna be a problem since they told you in writing that you had to get C’s or above. Tbh
Why would you even take a chance? You’re obviously an intelligent person and a C shouldn’t be that hard to achieve. Teachers don’t want to give them because they know it’s going to impact admissions so if you get a D, it’s because you didn’t even give a minimal effort.

so i had D in my As levels and my A levels didnt go so good i am not so sure about getting a C .Also i am already done with my math exams so cant do anything now. so i wanted to know how is their history with rescinding people.

So your final semester grades are Ds? If so, then I would suggest reaching out to your teachers and counselors to see if you can change your grade to an C or above. Extra credit? Retake the tests or exams?

Also reach out to NEU Admissions to find out immediately what can be done. Maybe you can take summer school or take the class over in CC? See if they will work with you on this. Do you have other options for college in case they do rescind which is a definite possibility. However, you need to be proactive.

While it might not be “yield protection” in the traditional sense, they are clear and transparent that they are manipulating the yield. By filling the incoming class with ED I, and then asking RD to switch up to ED II, they are guaranteeing a committed applicant per acceptance. Then, the tremendous amount of fee waivers and lack of essay (easiest app) they are boosting the numbers to create perception of low acceptance rate
Sadly, kids think the low acceptance makes it more special. Which is too bad. Northeastern has enough going for it to not have to do this. Now, the gig is up and everyone knows. Its a very good school with unique programs, but it’s no MIT, Ivy, or top 50. Despite what the acceptance rate might make some think.
No horse in this race. My kid got in and went elsewhere.

I absolutely agree! In addition to protecting their yield, they are notoriously a “click” school which makes them look way more selective than they actually are by bumping the number of applicants. There are no supplemental essays like the actual selective universities and no application fee
It is purely a numbers game. They don’t even rank in the top 50 yet their acceptance rate is half that of Northwestern and Georgetown and the same as Duke and MIT?? And if they really cared about demonstrated interest, wouldn’t they have a “why us” supplemental essay?

My daughter was accepted with no merit so it’s a no for us. She goes to a large public high school outside of Boston and the acceptance rate for her high school on SCOIR for 2024 was 45%! Perhaps higher yield and also they know the schools well. Kind of unusual. Wish I could say the same for Harvard - haha.

My student graduated NEU in 2023, and it was a fabulous experience. Back then, NEU gave more generous merit money, and that’s one of the reasons we chose it. But if you can afford it, the school is great, and the coop program made the school even more affordable and provided two very professional experiences for my student. We were extremely pleased with NEU.
