Northeastern Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2025 Admission

Students cannot use federal aid for the programs that start outside of Boston (except perhaps 4 years in Oakland) because they are not fully matriculated in the main NU Boston campus at the Fall they start. They are considered transfers in when they move to Boston. NU does often award NU need based aid for these first semester/first year programs that can be used. You would have to ask FA about the student loans, but I assume they could be used.

Switching ED2 to RD option just disappeared for me.

@ehuang25 same here, it only lets me submit the change from ED2 and that only

Decisions usually come out on Wednesdays. Good luck! My son was admitted ED2 last year and he is currently in London. He loves everything about NU.

Any other ED2 applications have “Deferred New Information” under the upload materials section?

that’s there for everybody so don’t worry it doesn’t mean anything

yeah I have it too.

NEU and their yield protection—your son will get into better schools! NEU knows it.

Not sure tonight is the night

it is not out  dang now im even more worried i put on a whole outfit for it & everything
speculation is not always right :sob:

$22K per year

I’m sorry that you or your children had a negative admissions experience at Northeastern, but Northeastern doesn’t “yield protect”. Like any college it determines if the applicant is the right fit for it. Demonstrated interest isn’t “yield protection”. The last refuge of rejected applicants is usually the dreaded “I was yielded protected”. It is a good coping tool, but it is just that, a coping mechanism.

not sure. no email, was speculated to be yesterday @ 7PM est, but it is not out
guess we have to wait.

)

Hello! My daughter was accepted into the London scholars program. Would you be available to speak with me? I would love to hear your perspective. My name is Rhonda. Thank you.

I actually have a personal connection to NU admissions; They do, in fact, yield protect. My youngest actually was admitted to the Boston campus, but declined the offer, as she didn’t feel at home in the city.

Since you apparently work at NEU, or at a minimum, have non-public information about NEU’s admission’s process, your view of “yield protection” might be better informed if you spoke with someone in admissions.

“Yield protection” is rejecting a high stats, high achieving student with the expectation that the student will choose a higher ranked school. Hopefully we can agree on that definition. As I wrote, “yield protection” is usually a coping mechanism when someone gets rejected. NEU does look at demonstrated interest. I know that for a fact. Their algorithm tracks it. Almost every college tracks demonstrated interest.

NEU isn’t going to reject a candidate because that candidate has such stellar stats and will choose eg, MIT; NEU will reject that candidate because they have not demonstrated interest. They will also do that for a more marginal applicant. The great majority of “yield protected” rejections aren’t because they “might attend elsewhere”; rather, it was for lack of demonstrated interest. There is a difference between the two and I invite you to confer with your personal sources in Northeastern’s admissions office to learn the difference.
