Northeastern Fall 2013 Transfer Page

that’s good to hear. did you receive grants in addition to the loan and work study?

Yes. I received a Northeastern Grant, Achievement Award, Perkins and Stafford Loans, and Work study. A whole big mix of everything lol

That’s really late for all the forms? Did you have your app in by the first? How many credits have you done? How were your letters of recommendation? How were your essays? We need way more info. The GPA is borderline in what they normally take so without more info I’d say you are 50/50

Hopefullyfresh , yes your portal will be updated with more tabs and the amounts of each. And any grants or awards will show up. For example, mine at first just listed I qualified for work study and perkins loans, but when they updated it that’s when the federal pell grant, achievement award etc. showed up.

Bcrafton, any other deatils? You should know by the end of the month or so. It took much longer for others to get their acceptances so just be patient.

yeah my app was in by the first, and they are processing it i know that much. i have taken 12 classes and keep in mind wpi is a more difficult school than northeastern.

If you expecting Northeastern to be easier than WPI, you are mistaken.

have u been to both? my friend is at northeastern and his work is a good deal easier than mine. what is ur major?

Honestly? Any school you go to will be hard for you, considering your attitude which appears to be pretty arrogant. Just saying that’s how you appear… Any school in the top 50 is going to be difficult. WPI isn’t as hard as HYP and it may be slightly more difficult than NEU but it’s not “significantly” easier by any means

not sure how im arrogant. im not transferring because i want an easier school im transferring because im on my computer playing starcraft 2 because there is nothing to do at wpi besides video games and frat parties. but i was just saying that wpi is a hard school and i know that is weighs more than schools that are less difficult. and please do not tell me what is hard vs what is not hard when u probably study buisness at a state school.

Hello! I am currently waiting from a response from Northeastern, and starting to get nervous! Would you mind telling me my chances of getting in?

My GPA as of last semester was a 3.072. I had some outside problems that I did not explain on my app, because I figured they wouldn’t want to hear about my emotional issues. Currently, though, I have all A’s and 1 B, although they won’t see that before they admit/deny me…

As for extracurricular activities, I am a dancer, and explained that the current school I attend does not offer any dance program, but I plan on continuing dance upon transferring.

I did send in my high school transcripts, which show I was involved in numerous clubs and activities and had very high academic standing- Suma Cum Laude.

If I just happen to attend a run-down school where there is not much opportunity for extracurriculars and the schoolwork isn’t all that great, how low are my chances?

I did receive a very strong academic letter from one of the best professors at my school. She mentioned how much of a conscientious worker I am, and how important I believe schoolwork to be. I am a smart kid, just had issues last semester.

Typing this is making me more nervous…

So far I have gotten into Suffolk and Wheelock, that’s good, right?

Thank you for your input!

Yeah talking down to somebody because they might be studying business at a state school. That’s the definition of arrogant. I don’t study at a state school I’m actually at a CC but I work 48 hours a week, why don’t you try that instead of world or war craft you ***hat

so first of all, ur throwing a temper tantrum because someone on the INTERNET said something mean to u. now im suppose to believe ull make it as a business major!? business requires solid social skills if im not mistaken. so please do not call me arrogant when u have yet to understand the differences in our given situations.

I believe if you polled CC you would find that demeaning schools is widely viewed as an arrogant act. Fact. Also, I’ve already “made it” in the business world. I’m well respected among my peers and the youngest person ever hired for my current role. Many people are content to do what I do for a career, I’m choosing to go back to school. I’m also mature enough to know that it’s not quite worth getting into this with you. I felt your first few posts were arrogant and demeaning to Neu which is a perfectly fine school. I said so and you attacked me. I hope you get accepted wherever you want to go. We won’t run into each other at Neu since it’s so big. Good luck, I hope you can learn to alter your attitude

thanks bro. good luck, love how you feel u need to prove urself to me. :3

i don’t know where you got the idea that NEU will prove to be easier than WPI. the acceptance rate at WPI for the class of 2012 was more than 20% higher than the same for NEU, and Northeastern’s standardized test score range was also higher. i think you’ll find that there’s a pretty well-established correlation between selectivity and difficulty, and Northeastern is the objectively more selective institution.

regardless of whether or not you’re wrong about that (and you’re wrong about that), you will need to leave your middle-school mentality behind at some point; everyone will benefit if that happens sooner than later

Hi everyone!

Congrats on getting in!!! I am semi freaking out so please let me know what you think about my stats! I already have received a few acceptance letters and one rejection letter.

I applied to NEU business school on April 15 (I know it’s bad to wait until the deadline…)

My Stats
College GPA: 3.5 from community college in Florida
Credit hours: 62
High School GPA: 3.34
I have fully supported myself since the age of 18 (now 22) but had to get a job at 13 to pay for basic necessities so on and so fourth. I work about 40 hours a week and attend school fulltime.
I have a pretty good investment portfolio considering my age too.
I also laid out a fantastic business plan in my personal statement but I am not sure if that would help me or hinder my chances of getting in.
My first semester at CC i found out my mother was diagnosed with an extremely deadly disease and over came a lot of adversity in the past few years.
3 LOR’s Written
one from an extended financial internship at a fortune 500 company
the other two from teachers

extra curricular activities
Started a women’s rugby team in high school
President of a Sustainability Club
Senator in student government
regularly volunteer at a few places etc…

Northeastern is my top school to get into and I really hope I do!!
Advise? Comments?

geez ppl im not down talking neu… im attempting to transfer there for heaven sakes. but in my given major, i can tell you than neu easier that wpi. thats not to say the education is any less. plus neu is a university(thats what the u stands for) so im arguing that the school of engineering is easier than wpi. i know this is true because my friend and i study the same thing at different schools. and lets be honest here the original argument was that going to wpi weighs more than going to a cc/stateschool/w.e. and ITS TRUE! is it not? im not trying to be offensive or talk down to anyone

@Bus2012DVC
I actually hope I can run into at neu I’m kind of interested in business and it seems you would have a lot to share.

@bcrafton

you can’t quantify difficulty based on the two anecdotal experiences of you and your friend. also: UC Berkeley is a state school as well as one of the best engineering schools in the country. state school != less-reputable school. your intentions don’t really matter here because you should’ve realized that you’d offend someone when you try to down-talk their institution

I’ll be happy to meet up with you. I’ll impart what knowledge I can although I can’t promise any miracles :-)
