Hello! I posted this over the weekend but I don’t think people saw it. I am freaking out here! Just wondering what some of you believe may be my chances are of getting in…

My GPA as of last semester was a 3.072. I had some outside problems that I did not explain on my app, because I figured they wouldn’t want to hear about my emotional issues. Currently, though, I have all A’s and 1 B, which were all on my midyear report.

As for extracurricular activities, I am a dancer, and explained that the current school I attend does not offer any dance program, but I plan on continuing dance upon transferring.

I did send in my high school transcripts, which show I was involved in numerous clubs and activities and a had a 4.0 upon graduation.

If I just happen to attend a run-down school where there is not much opportunity for extracurriculars and the schoolwork isn’t all that great, how low are my chances?

I did receive a very strong academic letter from one of the best professors at my school. She mentioned how much of a conscientious worker I am, and how important I believe schoolwork to be. I am a smart kid, just had issues last semester.

I got in this morning/afternoon!!! Congrats to everyone else who got in! Seriously I’ve been freaking out about this for months to the point where I was having dreams about it. I have to agree with the other posters, GPA isn’t nearly as important as you think! I transferred once already so I had a 2.65 GPA from my first year (not my finest year) but this previous semester I had a 3.94 so that boosted things tremendously. I also had great LORs and a well rounded list of activities. I can’t wait to be a husky!! Hopefully FA is decent…

poTAYtoesz: Congrats!!! Must be nice to finally have an answer after waiting so long!! I hope I get an answer soon! When did you apply?

bosbr100: Hmm I’m not sure. Maybe call them again just to be safe and tell them that the lady you spoke to gave you an extension and have them make sure it is in the system. Maybe also have them send you an email that says you have the extension or can it be posted somewhere on the log-in thing?

JenOfKaye: What major are you going into? You might get in you never know. I feel like even though you didn’t explain it, i’m sure that they can understand and recognize that sometimes people just have a bad semester for various reasons. Also by them seeing you had a 4.0 for high school that shows you are studious and you said you were involved so that also helps!

It’s just the luck of the draw I guess and however many spots they have open and who else is applying!

There was a girl who posted not too long ago and she was accepted with a 3.0 GPA. My GPA isn’t stellar ether so I understand how you feel. I have a 3.18 GPA. But I guess you can’t let that freak you out. There are many other factors that go into it than just your GPA. So you never know!!

I hope we get our answers soon! Good luck to you!! Fingers crossed!

@jenofkaye I would say you have a fair shot of getting in. My overall GPA isn’t much better than yours and your high school grades were great. I don’t think attending a “run-down school” will affect your chances. I’m transferring from kind of a crappy school myself and I still got in. You’re in a similar situation that I was in. Good midterm reports and a strong LOR. I think you’ve got a good chance! Good luck!!!

@Bosbr100: if you’re that concerned send a follow up email to rasheedah simply listing out what you discussed and ask for an email confirmation, make sure you word it such that you’re simply confirming what you discussed on the phone.

Thanks guy for all the replies. I will do that! And congrats for everyone accepted!

JenOfKaye, you have a well rounded application overall. And they definitely don’t look just at your GPA. I was accepted from a very small and quite unknown school in Boston, so the place where you study now doesn’t matter much I believe. Good luck!

I just submitted my deposit! Bentley shafted me on financial aid, combined with Northeastern’s great aid package I obviously opted for NEU! I’m really excited and looking forward to it. I just bought myself a few tees and a hoodie of husky gear to celebrate

I called Northeastern again today and another person guaranteed me that there is an update in the system for the extension of my deadline, so even though I don’t have an email or anything written… I guess I could relax now? haha

I’ts been over a month and I have yet to get any decision from them. where will the decisions be posted and when can i expect an answer from them?

I’ve heard back from Bentley, Babson, and Syracuse. Got into all 3. Waiting on Northeastern and BU. I want to see the financial aid packages before I make a decision

I have been waiting over a month as well and have not received an answer yet!

I called them yesterday and the lady I spoke to was really nice and said that she would send my application to an admissions counselor or something like that to “bump up the process” and told me I should find out soon…

So still not really a clear answer of when but hopefully it will speed up the process and I will find out by next week before I leave school…

I would give them a call and see what they have to say! It can’t hurt!

The general consesus is that the decesions are usually posted in the morning around 11-12ish on the log-in that you get once you submit your application. Also a email will be sent to you saying a decesion was posted. If you are admitted when you log in you will see a colorful screen that says congrats! you’re a husky now and if you are denied a message that says sorry and whatever.

Fingers crossed to be admitted soon! Good luck to you!

Hey, I got into both Bentley and Babson. Bentleys financial aid is really bad for transfers. There is achievement aid and their need based aid is limited. At least for somebody like me that federally is an independent. Babson had better achievement but I got literally no need based aid vs at least 5k from Bentley. I ended up with 7k from Babson, 5k from Bentley and 20k from Northeastern. NEU was the only school to declare me independent, no need for parental information (I’m 24 and have supported myself for 6 years). Just an insight into each schools aid philosophies. I’m bummed about Bentley, my dad went there and the campus and focus on tech was awesome, but not 50k a year in loans awesome lol. I actually really didn’t like Babson (my dad got his MBA there) , the adcom was hella bratty and acted like we were inconveniencing her during our tour in Jan. Which is your favorite school so far? I got rejected from BU, my HS GPA was a 2.31 which ended up killing me even though it was 6 years ago.

Bus2012DVC, I’m waiting to hear back from BU and NYU. I can’t really tell my favorite, but I love the Northeastern campus more than any other haha
Well they did give you a good aid, and I’m sure you’ll have a great time there!

marissathemaine, it will be sometime soon! Good luck!

That’s awesome you have heard back from a few colleges so far! Congrats on getting in!! I’m getting so anxious, I haven’t heard back from any of my top schools yet.
NYU told me they won’t be releasing any acceptances until a few weeks from now
BU said wait around the 15th
Bentley gave me a wishy washy answer on when I will know
GW basically said the same as the others
And NEU told me around May 1st

What were your stats to get into NEU and receive that much financial aid?

transferccgal, thank you! From my top choices, I only heard back from NEU. Two more to go… I know, waiting forever for BU, NYU, and more schools… let’s see

For my stats: 4.0 college GPA, very strong LORs, not so many ECs just study abroad trips, no work experience. I did not submit my HS transcript, which wasn’t that strong, and no SAT/ACT. 106 in my TOEFL score; I’m an international student, idk if that changes anything.

I can’t receive financial aid for being an international student. I got a merit aid of around 7k for the first year, and then around 3k for the following years.
