ACT 35
GPA 3.97/4.61
Deans Scholarship $16000/year

My son has 34 ACT, 4.3 WGPA, great EC. Deferred. So disappointed.

@torijeana I don’t think that is true unless you think a score of 33 on ACT is low and a 3.8 from a College Prep school. I think it really depends on your essay, your recommendations, and the program you apply to. I think they look for kids that display some type of maturity and leadership.

Decision: Accepted
Deans Scholarship: $20,000 year

Sports all four years, few clubs (3), decent volunteer hours, tough course load. Also got the 15,000 & 7,500x4 I’m so ecstatic!!

@lzd1234 There were some denials when decisions started to be posted. Students who are denied are less likely to post that result here, in my opinion.

@mk1901 When calculating need based aid your merit scholarships will be factored in. So if your need is $10k and you have a $5k scholarship the remaining need is $5k.

Accepted

ACT: 35
GPA: 4.2 W/3.8UW
Home State / Country: VA
Major: BME
Did you apply for FA?: no
Attended COE Open House
Connections Scholarship for women in engineering $20K/year

@workingtogether I was wondering how much interest was shown. Not sure that is a factor. Those are strong numbers. I saw this effect at Villanova with slightly lower numbers getting in and in fact my daughter got rejected. I think NU is concerned that this is a safety for you. But if you send a LOCI to them I would think you are a very strong candidate. Good luck to you.

@wojo25 Congratulations! Could I ask if you got into the honors program? Just tracking NHRP awards here. We only got $15k, but you have better numbers so sounds like it was dispersed based on academic tiers.l perhaps.

Decision: Accepted!

Congrats to those accepted!

I have a friend at NU that says it’s more difficult for Engineers to get into the Honors college than other majors. Is this true? From what I’ve seen on this thread that seems to be the case

For my daughter

Decision: Deferred
SAT: 1470
GPA: 3.8 unweighted

Home state: CT
Major: Biology/Microbiology
Legacy

Congratulations to those accepted!

Based on the thread, makes you wonder if being from New England puts you at a disadvantage during EA.

@Kollege2019 You’ll find out on the RD decision date in geographic waves in the same format as yesterday

@mk1901 Merit and financial aid do not stack, so if you have need over the max scholarship, any scholarship simply bumps aid down unfortunately. If you did not get the scholarship you would have gotten more grant money.
