Northwestern HPME Part 1

yea dr green is the director. her interview lasted 15 min cuz she is so busy

I’m not sure what’s going on at Feinberg but they really should get their act together. Someone from the admissions office was fired a few months back for sending this obnoxious email to applicants:

Uh oh…I suppose this could potentially be good or bad for all of us who are waiting.

I guess we can only hope for the best… Kim said interview decisions would be out soon (this week, I believe) so I think we might just have to wait it out :/

Haha… somehow I don’t actually believe that rejection letter is true… I mean c’mon this is NORTHWESTERN… they have a great reputation

i have doubts about that e-mail’s authenticity. i live on campus and i figure that I would’ve heard about it if it had really happened. anyhow, hang in there guys, give it a few more weeks.

The email was only sent to interviewed applicants. Only someone inside the admissions office would have access to that info.

Furthermore, it was not sent to all interviewed applicants and it was sent around the time when Feinberg was supposed to release its November decisions. This prompted speculation that the email was only sent to interviewed applicants who were truly rejected, prompting this email:

Wow… who could have imagined!

And I’m still hanging in there…

i think those emails described were for regular med school applicants, not hpme right?

But I am not sure why you think they haven’t “got their act together”; they fired that person after all. It’s unfortunate and they may be able to prevent this; I am not sure. But in general, it’s really difficult to guard against its own employee. What goes around comes around; that j*rk is probably paying for this now.

Just as we are expected to be on our best behavior during the admissions process, I believe a school’s handling of its admissions process is a reflection on the school. Something like a rude admissions staff or a poorly assembled interview day can turn off top applicants from the school.

Northwestern only releases decisions twice a year: at the end of November and at the end of February. It did not release decisions at the end of November. Instead those decisions become early December decisions. It’s going to be late on the February decisions as well as it will now release those decisions in early March. A few days before the November/December decisions were released, applicants’ status pages were changed “accidentally” to reflect their acceptance. These status pages were changed back soon after. The Northwestern admissions staff said that everyone’s status pages had changed (this was a lie because when they changed the status pages back they forgot to put the date back so it was clear whose status pages had changed and whose didn’t) and that the change in status page did not indicate any sort of decision (this was also a lie because everyone whose status pages changed got an acceptance in December; people whose status pages didn’t change, did not). I don’t mind an admissions staff making a mistake, but don’t lie to us about it.

are we still talking about HPME, or just general nWU’s med school?

btw, I agree w/ norcalguy in how a school’s admin office reflects people’s view of that school. And right now Northwestern is turning me off.

still waiting for that hpme rejection letter…

I’m talking about the general Feinberg admissions process of course since HPME decisions don’t come out till much later.

Feinberg is a fine school but its handling of the admissions process this year leaves a lot to be desired. Hope the actual school is run better.

awww I haven’t heard ANYTHING yet, so I guess I am not getting a interview :frowning: …so said it’s my absolute first choice too :(

I think half of us on here haven’t heard anything, haha. We all will eventually.

rejection! finally…what took them so long?

ACT: 34
SAT: 800M 740V
GPA UW: about 3.8

did it come by mail?

yes by mail. I know a few others who got their mail rejection letters yesterday and today too.

Rejection here too… : (((

ACT: 36
SAT: 800M/710CR
GPA:4.596 W and 3.97 UW

"Rejection here too… : (((

wow…

How did I GET an interview compared to you guys, especially because I know the HPME average SAT scores are super high, and mine would just bring it down…a lot…

I have my interview this morning. I am currently in the hotel room getting ready.
