If I convert my ACT scores into SAT score, the range is 2200-2330… Do I still have to actually take the SAT test and score well on it even though I have pretty good ACT scores already? Do they count more on SAT?

Is the SAT II for Writing required? I’ve taken the SAT and like my writing score there, so can I just use that?

Also, is 740 CR, 770 Math, 790 Writing high enough? It’s a few points below the average score for an HPME admitted student, but I got an 800 on my Math II, so would that help?

hey guys i was wondering how much weightage goes to the SAT IIs and the SAT I, is it more important than everything? and is the unweighted gpa more important or the weighted gpa? Also, if you take BC calc by ur junior yr, is that an advantage that is importnat? or not that importnat

also shuold ECs be geared towards medicine? WELL obviously …lol
but as ive heard the applicant should be “well-rounded”, so does that mean i should focus on other things too?

one more thing, if you take the SAT II in one subject and get a 750 and retake it and get a 800 a couple yrs later, will both scores show? or only the higher one, and if both scores show, will it be a negative point that there are two scoreS? or will the higher score only be looked at?

it depends what class your in as the new rules of the college board state…if your in the class of 09 the schools that you are applying to will see both…but if your in lets say the class of 2010 you can pick and choose which tests you want schools to see

and don’t worry if schools see both because many people applying to even the most competitive programs present themselves with 750’s and they stil get accepted…and the fact that that wasnt good enough for you and that you got a perfect the second time around in my opinion can only help you

I’ve been looking at all the stats of people that have applied to HPME at NU and have been rejected (e.g. 4.5 weighted GPA, tons of E.C.'s, 2250+ SAT scores, 750+ Subject tests) and I was wondering whether or not I should apply.

My Stats:
3.8 Weighted GPA
2200 SAT (720 Writing, 780 Math, 700 C/R)
610 on Math II Subject Test (planning on retaking)
Not yet taken Chemistry Subject Test (will take in Fall))

Over 100 hours of volunteering at the Red Cross.

Is it even worth applying to such a competitive program, or should I just apply to the USC BA/MD 8 year combined program and save some money/energy?

Well, the thing is that I have a cousin who goes to USC and that might give me a slight advantage over others that are applying to the same program. I mean, it’s not like I’m thinking of applying JUST based on an alumni, but I’m saying that if it comes down to that…I have a slight advantage.

i dont think it would give you an advantage if he just goes to the school. sure, it would help into getting into USC, but not the program itself, unless he’s in it. if he’s in the program then yea i can see it helping a little.

Where did you get the information about the new rules about only sending the best scores for class of 2010? Do you have link to the collegeboard website that confirms this?
