Northwestern HPME Part 1

regardless, we should be getting an email sometime tuesday about hpme

Why Tuesday?

because that was what i was told by Eve Veis

oh ok. tuesday it is then.

perhaps we should start a new thread for this, this one is getting prettty long

YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
got into hpme today
im going to Northwestern!!!
Northwestern Class of 2011
Feinberg School of Medicine Class of 2015 (i think)
this is a dream come true

me too! i’ll see you there! sweet.

btw, the program is a 7 year one. :-P

undergraduate studies only take 3 years.

hey could you guys please post your stats?? to help future hopefuls??? :)

I got in as well!

I think my stats of strong SAT/GPA (2400/4.0), SAT II scores, extracurriculars, essays, recs, etc. were all what got me in an interview. However, after that I think I had some really good interviews that helped me get in!

jonthelin, we can still do 4 years undergrad if you want to double major or study abroad, which is why this program is one of the best out there
so i think we still are technically Northwestern Class of 2011 eventhough we might graduate in 2010

haha sweet got in too! what a relief its about time!

AHHHHH YES I got in!!!
AWESoMEness!

me too! :)

btw westcoastlove, stats that are high are great, but they dont necessarily have to be perfect so don’t worry:) look at the well rounded picture! gujugeek, btw tho, fantastic job!

stats really don’t garuntee anything
i had a mid-2100s SAT, but I got in
i was strong in every other aspect of my application
i think what really matters is leadership, personal qualities, and sincere passion for medicine
if you display those qualities, then you will be a hard applicant to reject but i think some luck has to also play in with it
once you get to the interview, i think your decision will be based mainly on how you did in the interviews

Would you turn down HYPS for HPME? any thoughts please. Thanks in advance!

well, i am turning down dartmouth, stanford, hopkins, and brown for this so definitely worth a lot to me.

I would definately turn down HYPMS for HPME, b/c eventhough those are incredible schools, they will still not garuntee you admissions to a medical school like Northwestern. Feinberg’s acceptance rate is about 4% and it is incredibly tough to get in. Last year 62 people from MIT applied to Feinberg and only 11 got in. In 2005, 100 people applied from MIT and only 9 got in. In 2006, 50 people applied from Princeton to Feinberg and only 12 gotin. I haven’t been able to access the other schools’ data, but I would be suprised if any got in more than 50% of their applicants to Feinberg. And these are the very top of the top students at these elite schools. This is such a great deal being given to us!

Three6, Thanks a lot for such detailed info on MIT and Princeton.

Congrats to all!!! It’s been two years since I was in your same position, posting the same stuff…nostalgia (?)
Just wondering: have they improved the financial aid at NU/Feinberg and what do you think your debt would be after the seven years?

I look forward to seeing all of you guys!
