@fnufan thanks for telling your story. I too am a second generation NU grad, live in NE suburbs, and have son at top public school with academic stats similar to those of your son. My son decided not to apply to NU, despite my best efforts, but I was always curious what his chances might have been and it looks like it would have been an uphill battle. Really tough to get into NU this year. Congrats to all those who were admitted. Go Cats!

communications major. Strong extracurriculars as serious ballerina, orchestra for 7 years and volunteer for a politician.
Really happy for the waitlist but will probably not opt in as we are in CA and she got into a number of strong UCs she loves.
Congrats to all who got in- it is an amazing and transformative school! And to those denied, I am sure you will go on to do amazing things on your own destined path!

@wingjuer - I don’t remember it being this hard or competitive when I was a kid heading off to college. It’s so hard! My D was rejected from Swarthmore recently and was more bothered than I’d expected, given that she’d already decided she didn’t want to go there - I think it is just a big hit to the ego.
@NYCMusicDad lol… getting a job in white house is much easier than this admission process. Only qualification you need is connection to F(# and Friends.
I didn’t check “intend to apply for financial aid” but I applied anyway to see what happens…are they going to review my financial aid application?

Question: planning on applying in the Fall, wondering how much do you feel Demonstrated Interest factored into your acceptance to NU? How did you go about demonstrating interest? We live in the Northeast so it would require some effort and expense to make the trip out there. Thanks.
