Northwestern Transfer Applicants Fall 2019

@hdhshehsndbsn did u get this today?

@hdhshehsndbsn Chief, you just gave me so much hope. I have a 3.59 in a tough program and thought I had no shot.

@BelleD Got it on Wednesday, May 1

@pjsx1999 Never lose hope!

Does anyone know when the next wave is coming out? Or is it just random from here on out?

I would hope this upcoming Wednesday. Most likely though, it’ll be the following Wednesday after that.

I think it’ll be this Wednesday since it’s getting later and later. The pattern has been different this year than previous years, but it seems like they come out every Wednesday once it gets to May…I could be wrong, but that’s what’s I’m hoping for

@SSAG Thanks for your reply; greatly appreciate your honesty. Do you have any insight into how good the sciences and pre-med advising are? My son is a bit of a late bloomer, and although his frosh and sophomore year grades were only about a 3.1, he’s running a 3.9 junior year - and still bored. He really wants to be around bright kids as he says he does better that way, and his best buddies are at the very top of his class at a college prep Catholic school in DC. In other words, places like NW are not in the cards for him, so he needs to find a place where he can get in — and still be intellectually challenged. Thought your soon to be former school might be the place.

@1stTimeThruMom Yeah ofc

The sciences aren’t supposed to be Elon’s forte but I found that the Chemistry department is super tight-nit, that being both the teachers and students. I was impressed by the community that I was introduced to and it is not bad at all. The advising seems good (being that I’m a freshman what do I really know though) and the professors are very good at helping you achieve. If you thrive at Elon, there are rewards as well. For the 20-30 best Gen Chem 1 students, they are invited to special section of Gen Chem 2 where we get the best professor and a designated lab time just for us. It is them trying to get kids comfortable and excited about their majors which I really like. Plus, no one knows about the section except for the kids in it. They do a good job at hiding it so no one feels left out. Also, theres something called a living learning community where you can choose to live with kids of similar interests/majors. I kinda thought it would be lame but I travel across campus every week now to study with my friends in the Chem LLC so it definitely works. Coming from a kid that went to a prep school as well (pretty close to DC too we might’ve played each other in sports), if you play Elon with insider knowledge, you can get a lot out of the experience. I don’t want to take up more space here, but, if you would like to know more, I would be willing to talk through email or something. Hopefully I’ve helped and as always, if you or anyone needs help just @ me :slight_smile:

Thanks so much @SSAG !

Will there be another wave this week? Or once per two weeks?

I am so stressed

Do you guys think it would be acceptable/recommended to send in my final transcript? I’ve just gotten my official grades back and was able to maintain my 4.0, so I’d like to add it to my application.

@AQArgo Go for it. That’s what I did

I wanted to send in my final transcript, but right now I only have the grade of one course out. It would be too strange just to send in one course grade. my final transcript probably won’t be out till May 15, which could be too late. QAQ

I was rejected on May 1st!

Applied for Weinberg
First-semester GPA: 3.76 (Sophmore Applicant). I took classes not conducive to my current major as I didn’t know what I wanted to do. Took pre-med and pre-business req’s.(12 hrs)
Comparative Lit Major
Currently attending: Top 80 Private on a Full-Tuition Merit Scholarship
EFC: 00000
Great EC’s and backstory
30 ACT

Thanks for the cycle guys, best of luck to those waiting and sorry for not updating sooner!

do you guys think is ACT score matters a lot in application? Bc I noticed lots of people got 34-36 and I only have 31.

I think ACT/SAT matters more for rising sophomores than juniors because two years college GPA demonstrates more academic potential?

Seriously? Can we still send our updated transcripts one and a half month after deadline???

For those accepted, have you gotten the preliminary credit evaluation? If so, how did you receive it and how long after your acceptance?
