@Ashtash I think the next batch will be two weeks from now based on past patterns
@northwestern30 Yeah, that’s probably more realistic
wait so the first wave was all rejections? does that mean waves started earlier than normal? this made me nervous, but i am so happy i wasn’t in that wave.
to anyone who was, i am so sorry. i do know someone who applied as ED, Freshman Transfer, and Sophomore transfer and finally got in. It’s not over
What I learned from reading past threads is that the first round is mainly people who are on the extremes, either really good and for sure getting accepted and people they think does not need to be looked at again. It just happens that there are more rejections than acceptances the first round because of this. I am sure there are some people who got accepted in the first round but just aren’t on cc or don’t post.
As for the next round, based on previous decisions, the second round is two weeks after the first and the third round a week after the second. After that the rounds become all over the place. I have also seen that on the second round, the people who are accepted are usually notified in the morning around 11 am EST while people in the afternoon are more rejected. I am not sure if this is just from last year or overall trend.
I hope everyone gets the best news for them, and do not stress about not getting in, there is always next year and if not, then you can always succeed where you are if you really put in the effort. If the transfer application process has shown me anything, it is that I can handle a lot more than I expected.
I am also waiting on hearing back, Northwestern is my first choice, so I am praying just as you all are.
Best of luck to everyone, and remember that this is just my observation of past years, Northwestern can easily change this, as they already have with sending out decisions this early in April.
is there a correlation between when you submitted your app and when you find out your results
i know someone who was admitted yesterday and probably not someone who they thought of as “definitely accepted”
@anonymouscc you know someone who was accepted…? I think that’s a big stray from past… don’t they usually only send no’s out at the beginning (the no extremes) and then the yes extremes? I doubt they were not a definite if they were accepted so soon
yes I know someone who was accepted yesterday and this person was not someone who i would think of as a “yes extreme” based on the fact they were denied last year ed, and ed acceptance rate is A LOT higher than regular, more so than at other schools
I definitely understand people being almost instant nos, but, for a school like Northwestern, no one is a shoe in. Admissions is extremely unpredictable. The people I saw admitted in the very first round last year weren’t shoe-ins, they were just strong applicants, like most applicants that are accepted
@anonymouscc Do you know his/her stats, profile, etc.?
@Ashtash i don’t think that is true, I think there are definitely people who Northwestern wants to attend their school and thinks that they are a shoe in. That is literally why they accept anyone for transfer. But there are people who would be admitted without needing to bring it to a vote or comparing to other students. At least in my opinion, like 2000 people are applying, there are bound to be a couple at least.
@anonymouscc I don’t think that just because someone was denied last year for ED means that they aren’t an extremely good candidate. Yes ED has higher acceptance rates but many people apply to transfer because they think they are better/changed from their former high school self. Also, applying ED last year probably showed the AO that he/she was really dedicated to attending NU which is also a plus to their application
i don’t other than that they were rejected ed last year as a senior and coming from lac with about 40% acceptance rate
I’m just saying no one is a shoe in. Maybe they really liked them, but no one is a “shoe in” at T20s
Made this account just to share some info with you guys.
Just got a rejection from Northwestern, applied last year as well, also rejected.
Judging from the fact that NW’s portal actually synchronized my materials from my pervious application (SAT and stuff), and as there is an ED-rejected guy got in as mentioned in this thread, the decision is early probably because NW already had some sort of review for us — thus they can just check on improvements and call for a decision.
Or maybe I am just too bad, lol.
@harveyhyde when did you receive the email?
has anyone heard of any other acceptances?
Hey guys, I’m actually really nervous about the northwestern decisions. I am really depending on going here for a lot of bug life decisions. I hope the admissions office can give me good news
@studentex420 I feel the exact same way. Best of luck to you!
I totally agree. I applied to other schools but this is my top choice! Hoping we all get what we want!
