Is anyone applying as a philosophy major?
@yamama I am!
I keep thinking about Wednesday, of course, I want to hear, but NOT if it’s bad news. I don’t want to think I’m in the bottom 50% of applicants, not after everything I’ve done. I keep saying this, but Northwestern has been my dream school since I was 4 years old. At 5 I had the fight song in its entirety burned into my brain. I ran around with purple and white pom poms. I was so devastated not to get in after EDing last year and being deferred. Northwestern is my first choice, but I applied to 3 others. What about everyone else?
@yamamama i am
@sstayingpositive I definitely agree with you. I only want a result earlier if it’s good news and would rather not hear until after school is over
@sstayingpositive I really hope you get in! I think you have a really strong shot. Clearly, since you were deferred and not out right denied, you at least know they saw something in you. Based off the fact that I’ve seen a couple of applicants accepted that had been out right rejected the previous year, I think you have a really solid shot, especially if you pulled off strong stats your first semester and got involved in one or 2 activities. Obviously essays and LORs will matter a lot, as well, but I’m sure you’ve got those in the bag. Best of luck! I also hope to only hear if it’s good news because next week is finals week for me(:
@Ashtash
Do you know the accepted applicants’ stat?
@Ashtash my finals are the same time, and i just keep thinking about decisions.
I’m just worried my high school GPA is too low
@TimJ00 @northwestern30 I will definitely go back and do some research later, but I remember that some of them had below average stats for Northwestern (even the ones that were transferring as rising sophomores) and some of them had average HS stats for Northwestern. Some of them were great, but most weren’t “exceptional.” If your stats weren’t exactly up to par for NU last year, but you have strong stats this year and a strong profile (ECs, essays, LORs), I’d stay you still have a solid shot.
If you’re a rising junior, however, your HS stats will matter a lot less
@Ashtash Thank you!
@karlmarxismydad Omg hi!! Finally found someone!
@liscsa Hi!!! I am really glad I found someone
@yamamama I did as well.
@jk62722 I really hope all of us can get in The wait is killing me…
this is taking me back to the stress of waiting for decisions from last year
@ashtash tysm! My high school grades are the only thing that really has me worried, and my ACT is on the lower side, which stinks. I have a letter of rec from a professor who really liked me, a Northwestern alum, and a professor I have that used to teach at Northwestern! I really think that will help. I guess we will see.
@northwestern30 MAJOR MOOD
@sstayingpositive wow thats literally me. I’m worried my high school grades will hurt my application
@sstayingpositive @northwestern30 I’m in the same boat with high school grades. Let’s hope we all get in anyway!
I also feel the same about high school grades but I’m hoping that my grades last semester, essays, and LORs will help
@transferapps23 & @northwestern30 i just keep telling myself that college grades really do matter more, but northwestern doesn’t like my high school so i’m hoping that won’t effect me.
