<p>I have never been in the “cool” crowd at my high school, ever. And as far as I know, I don’t want to join them or associate with them because in my opinion they are just followers. They conform to whatever the media and magazines tell them and as a result I see that they all dress the same, talk the same, act the same, etc. It’'s like they are fake and just do whatever the majority of the group does to gain acceptance or just for the sake of conformity. </p>
<p>Anyway, continuing on, what will become of me in college? Is there a “cool” crowd in college as well, or will those people mature and learn to stop acting like the way that media tells them to?</p>
<p>Buddy, I think you should focus on pre-algebra first, and then worry about “cool” crowds.</p>

<p>For your original question, college is a lot more complex than high school. There won’t be one “cool” crowd, however, from what I know from collegiate friends, there are “cool” persons in different departments, dorms, and such and such. The cool people in college are generally the Greek people, the most intelligent/artsiest students, and the richest people. Don’t be too hard on the media or media studies students will hate you.</p>
<p>I think you need to get over yourself before worrying about being cool in college.</p>
<p>It sounds like half the reason you aren’t in the “cool” crowd is because you unfairly stereotype and generalize those who are. Out-group homogeneity bias much?
Anyway, there’s much less of a “cool” crowd in college. There are always going to be people who are perceived as cool by the general population, so their associates might be seen as “cool” crowds, but there are many, many different cool crowds, so, outside of cliquish high schools, it’s more about just having a group of friends.</p>
<p>There’s no real cool crowd at my school (I think it’s because our football team sucks and someone in cheerleading is always pregos). Still, I can’t really comment on people following the “media”. People always follow the media, it’s the goddamn media. You follow it too though you don’t realize it.</p>
<p>College, there isn’t really a “cool” crowd, but then that depends also on where you go on what’s gonna be cool. Don’t go to a big frat school I guess. Still, if you keep up that me vs. them attitude against anyone who’s the least bit popular/trendy your gonna annoy everyone.</p>
<p>There’s no cool crowd at my school either. I think the students at my school are more accepting.</p>
