Not Into my Tops (WL x4)

So my guidance counselor and I put together a list of 8 schools that at the time seemed like it would leave me happy and with at least one good choice. The 31st wasn’t kind to me, and now I really need advice. So the deal is…

Waitlisted- Dartmouth, UPenn, Tufts, Hopkins
Accepted- Villanova, Penn State, BC

I plan on doing pre-med and majoring biochemistry or BME (if I can get into any BME programs). Dartmouth was my dream school, but I entirely fell in love with UPenn and Tufts throughout the process. I know that the chances for waitlists are extremely slim, but do any of you have any thoughts as to what I should do? I am entirely ready to make a part-time job out of talking with admissions counselors, and if I get an offer off the waitlist I would probably just accept the first one that comes to me.

So, any thoughts as to WL tactics? And where do you think I should put my deposit in the meantime?

do you know what locals call villanova? Vanilla-nova… unless you’re upper middle class white…

I know, I’ve also heard Vanilla-no-fun… and for the record I am middle class white…

hahaha lol

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/474534-how-get-off-waitlist.html

Just in case you haven’t seen that yet.

Even if chances of getting off the waitlist are slim, I’m sure if you contact your top schools and told them of your desire to go there, and that you would definitely go there if they gave you the chance they would move you up higher on the wait list.

you’re in a tough spot… I’d recommend PSU though over nova for science. are you into eberly?

First off - send in a deposit to one of the schools to which you have been accepted. Since you are aware of the fact that it is a very slim chance of getting off the waitlist, you need to cover your other bases. Also, understand that most schools do not prioritize their waitlists so it is not a matter of “moving up” per se. First, they wait and see who chooses to enroll. If they decided to go to the waitlist, they will likely be looking for people with specific qualities or characteristics. For example, if very few students from your state decide to enroll, that could be an in for you. However, if they already have a lot from your state, they would look elsewhere. If they need bassoon players and none enrolled and you play bassoon, then they would give you another look. You get the idea.

Showing your love is always helpful because they need to know that you will definitely enroll if they accept you.

BC is probably the best out of the schools you got in.
