Not related to anything: Reading Screenplays

There are whole sites devoted to unproduced screenplays. I try to read some of them and never get past the first few pages. Writing a really good screenplay must be extremely difficult.

Even reading ones that have made it into production is sometimes hard. Is it me, or are scripts just generally boring until it’s been transformed into a movie?

So, with all that in mind, I ran across one of the most incredible screenplays I’ve ever read. It helps that I’ve seen the movie and can recall the visuals, but in terms of writing, this one blew me away:

http://www.panslabyrinth.com/downloads/screenplay/PansLabyrinthEnglishScreenplay.pdf</a></p>

I cannot get all the way to the final pages without tears just flowing freely.

If you don’t have time to go through the whole thing, just read the first 5 or 6 pages and then skip to the end and read the last 5 or 6 pages. It’ll illustrate the power of the script. BUT there’s a big spoiler by skipping to the end, so if you plan to see the movie, you might want to wait before you read this.
