@thumper1 Sure worth a look! I’m a bargain shopper, and have never paid more than 49.00 or so for a pair of jeans! So I will be patient. Plus I’m losing weight, so I’ve got time to wait. Thx again!
On the turtleneck list, I wonder why shortening the length of the neck would EVER be a pro?
Besides, I don’t think that is true for women with long graceful necks; think Audrey Hepburn in a turtleneck. The turtlenecks she wore emphasized the length of her neck (in a very good way).
Otherwise, it’s a useful list!
I was wondering about that, too. Maybe if one has a very skinny, long neck and a very elongated face. I can think of one such person (my HS classmate), and she could have benefitted from the neck shortening effect.
I discovered the NYDJ jeans this year. My great find from 2016! Love the waist, love the stretch. My faves are Samantha Slims and Marilyn Straights –
Last year I was all set to shop for NYDJ based on feedback from online friends. But then I learned the pockets might not work for my cellphone. It’s critical for me to have my phone on me at all times. That’s a little bit due to work needs but mostly because if I put the danged thing down I loose it.
“That’s a little bit due to work needs but mostly because if I put the danged thing down I loose it.”
Uhn-huh.
@HLmom: *Anyway, is this a competition or “truth or consequences”? *
Did you take umbrage at my question, @HLmom? I wasn’t seeking to challenge you, and I don’t see anyone trying to top anyone else. The question was based in curiosity and confusion.
It IS confusing that sizing of women’s clothing is as random as it is, even within the same brand and sometimes the same pair of jeans in the same style and brand. It makes me crrazy but grateful for Costco’s great return policy.
I was not trying to be confusing.
I have 4 or 5 pair of NYDJ jeans/pants and I order them from Nordstrom, usually on sale. They are all the same size which is why I like the brand. It always fits. I have had to get most of them hemmed if they aren’t cropped. I don’t like to shop and appreciate being able to order them online. My favorite brand of pants by far! I’m 5’5".
My cell fits in all five out of six NYDJ I own. The sixth is a ponte black dress pant with tiny pockets. I don’t have the giant i-phone though. It annoys me that phones keep getting bigger, my previous phone fit better than the current one.
I don’t know how the teen girls walk around with that phone stuck onto their bouncy bottoms. Walking behind one of them I always have questions, such as when I see that pants-around-the-middle-of-the-thigh, oops-I’ve-messed-myself, look some boys think is cool.
I just wonder…how does the phone not slowly move up and out of the back pocket? How can one feel safe that no one is going to try and pilfer the thing?
I have generally seen moms with it in their front pockets, even that larger Iphone.
I only wear NJDJ. I always have my cell phone in my pockets… I have a iphone 6S. I often put it the front pocket which goes sideways instead of up and down. I like that. Otherwise I just stick it into the back pocket. I never have a problem except I have to remember to take it out if I have to go to the bathroom :). It can fall out then.
What kind of cell phone do you have? Mine fits in my back pockets of NYDJ just fine.
I put my cellphone in my back pocket of my NYDJ jeans. No problem.
The GV jeans fit my iPhone 6s in rear pockets with no problem. You have to be sure there are no rivets or other things that could scratch the glass, which seems more fragile than the iPhone 5 was. I believe you could also put it in the front pocket but I usually put the phone in vest pockets, if I’m wearing one.
Women’s pants pockets tend to be smaller and shallower than I’d like, especially dress slacks!
I’m too vain and to hippy to permit pockets in my dress slacks; I have all pockets in dress pants cut out and sewn shut. Visually removes a couple of pounds. (But, sadly, I’m not too vain to resist the convenience of storing my phone in my bra from time to time when pockets aren’t available. TMI?)
^^Ha, ha. Not at all.
For dressy, I generally keep my phone in my purse. I prefer to keep any radiation from phones away from my sensitive chest area.
@nottelling we are talking about jeans…not dress pants!
I was responding to @HImom’s post #54, in which she was talking about pockets in dress pants.
