Nothing about college (Wedding Dresses)

That’s beautiful. I’m anti-lace, so the rhinestones look fine to me. Interesting to see how wedding dress styles have changed since I got married (think Princess Di).

Yes, by all means let them eat Cheetos or bugles (as fireflyscout suggested) as yes, she will definitely be goregous in that dress.

How gorgeous. Yes, wedding dresses have changed. It was Carolyn Bessette marrying John Kennedy that did it. Me I was covered head to to in form-fitting lace and rhinestones with a huge satin bow on the knee. They called it a “mermaid” dress.

She will look just beautiful. Prepare to sob. Is she wearing a veil (never mind emotion, let’s focus on the important details:))

Love the dress, mot as you know. On to:
*your dress
*her hair
*all other details needed by this M-of-1Son who needs to “do” the wedding vicariously through you.

I never went to a formal or a prom in high school, and I eloped (without a wedding dress) but I have enjoyed shopping for prom dresses and all of the associated must-haves with my D and friends, and, hopefully, at some point in the distant future, will get a chance to shop for a wedding dress for her too!

I am so glad y’all like it! I can tell she is thrilled with it. I am not at all sure what I will wear, and guess she and I will shop a little when she comes home on the 21st for her litle brother’s graduation from HS. I hope I can find something that is okay! I love Firefly’s reminder about Cheetos! I like Bugles anyway!

I guess there’s something about Bugles that screams “wedding” to me.

Bugles could inspire memorable silliness. Taratarataratata!

An Update:

The big day is this Saturday! I sincerely request prayers you might offer for those involved in this wedding, especially since they are virtually all travelling from long distances to attend the joining of two Swatties in Holy Matrimony.

I leave on Thursday for a little shower in Philly, and to see if there is anything left that I can help with, including getting out of the way if that is what is required. I spent a few hours the other day making cute little birdseed holders out of gauze and satin ribbons, and made her veil. Apart from that, I have had little to do! Oh, I did send money. That counts, right?

Anyway, for those kind enough to follow this saga, I appreciate your interest!

Momofthree

Congratulations and best wishes to the soon to be newlyweds! I’m getting teary eyed just thinking about dropping mine off at college - can’t imagine how I’ll be at her wedding.

Thanks for understanding, nunof! Of my three kids, the two biological ones are both making the big transition, D to marriage, and S to college. I am trying very hard to see the brightness in this, and usually that is all I see, but sometimes I feel such a lump in my throat!

Good luck, and congratulations momofthree! I hope your daughter will be very happy and that she has a lovely wedding.

Love the dress; very simple and elegant. everything so fast!

Fredo, I’m hapy for your sister too

I think bugles seem especially appropriate for a Curtis student’s wedding.

(Congratulations and best wishes to both.)

Showers of virtual rice and rose petals on your D’s and your heads! We’ll be thinking of you Saturday…her dress is lovely and the plans sound special…what a wonderful wonderful day…all of your CC friends will be in the cybergallery, shedding a tear (or a thousand) of joy with you…

Momofthree,

There has probably been a whirlwind of activity in your family over the past few weeks. Your kids are starting new chapters in their lives at the same time, but at the same time they’re still your babies and maybe this is is all happening too soon. Take it all in, enjoy these special memorable moments. Thanks for sharing them with us.

I agree with overanxious mom, wishing your family a wonderful and blessed day (it is suppose to be great weather this weekend also).
we in the cybergallering will be tossing rice, birdseed, rose petals, along with our prayers and good wishes your way this weekend.

we will raise a glass of cyber champagne to her on sinner’s alley in addition to having free cheetoes and bugles for all the patrons.

So pop in to the bar and give us an update when you get back.

Thanks, you guys! I’ll be in touch!

momofthree I’ll be thinking of you and your wonderful family this Saturday. It’ll be easier to envision you and dd now that I know what you’re wearing and where it’s going to be. So here’s a toast to happiness and a great celebration. I’ll be looking forward to hearing all about it.
Best wishes!!

Best wishes for a beautiful day and a long and happy marriage.

Hi friends,

I have just returned from wonderful Pennsylvania following the wedding of my only daughter to the man of her dreams. The wedding went off without a hitch, and a spirit of love and unity flowed among us all, which is what I had most hoped for. The bride, I just have to say, was radiant, confident, and beautiful. The dress was gorgeous! I asked her if she was nervous, and she just said “No, I am just having a great time.” The groom, in a morning suit complete with ascot, was very handsome and calm.

The only difficulty we had happened on Friday when DH and S2 were trying to get to Philly: the Live 8 concert plus the 4th of July weekend caused a delay of seven hours in their arrival, and they missed the rehearsal dinner. Sigh. I had gone the day before to go to a shower and though my flight was delayed, I was only two minutes late for the party! A minor miracle, as I think of it.

After a brief honeymoon, DD will move into a wonderful apartment just on the edge of the Penn campus where her HUSBAND (that is the first time I have typed THAT!!) has been living this last year, a great place near to everything. All is bright and beautiful, and I appreciate the prayers, thoughts, requests to be held in the Light and all good wishes!

Blessings to you all!
