Rejected. Daughter was a 4.92 wgpa, 11 AP, 1510, soccer team, nothing special ECs but won awards including the HS woman in STEM award. Good luck to all.
Notre Dame class of 2023 grad here, I knew lots of people at ND who got deferred initially, I know it is frustrating to keep waiting but it will all work out the way it is meant toā¦Go Irish and hang in there!!
Iām really sorry - those are incredible stats! She is going to do great wherever she ends up! So many talented students vying for too few slots - it is very arbitrary, but again, sheās done wonderfully in High School, and I am sure it will continue in college!
Appreciate it. No worries itās all good, she took a shot. She is a great kid, the rare stem/math guru who is also super friendly, good social skills, and an athlete. She will find a great spot. She was also applying for business/finance which makes it that much harder. After legacies, and athletic recruits, only a few hundred spots for the whole country to battle for.
She was ranked around 11th out of about 550 class size, but the schools salutatorian also applied to ND so curious if that person gets the spot.
additionally, for ND 2028 REA according to their admission page 11,498 applied early, 1,724 were admitted, and 2,150 were deferred.
Son deferred. His ā22 brother was accepted with slightly lower stats (he chose another school) so this is extremely disappointing.
4.00 UW at top school in our state (doesnāt rank)
1560 SAT
NMSF
Strong state-level STEM and other leadership activities
Spent 2 weeks at ND summer program
He was admitted to another school today that told him his common app essay was the āmost thoughtful and articulate (the admissions director) had read this cycle.ā
Not feeling great about his chances at other T20s now.
S24 admitted.
4.0 unweighted, 13 APs, varsity athlete and captain of team. Lots of volunteering and involvement in our parishās teen group.
1530 SAT superscored
Public high school but we send a lot of kids to ND.
Before this week I would have put his chances at 50/50 based on Naviance data but every time he heard about another amazing student applying it seemed more unlikely he would get in.
non-direct legacy but other family members are alums.
Heās stunned and happy.
Deferred.
3.95 unweighted
8 APs with 4/5s
33 ACT composite
Lots of activity, team captain, music and bilingual in German
No religion or legacy connections
She is happy she wasnāt rejected and will keep pushing forward on sending them all the extras. This was a reach for her.
restrict
DS rejected. pretty good stats 33 ACT nine APs, great extracurriculars, 4.1 GPA really competitive high school though so not in top 10% of class. had a four-year ROTC scholarship so thought that might help.
Heās been accepted to West Point and just got his congressional nomination yesterday so heās pretty excited about that. congratulations to everyone! my older daughter went to Notre Dame and Iām still a big fan.
Canāt find this posted anywhere. Iām sure the REA data will be published shortly, but I looked on the ND admissions website and did not see it.
Thanks @luna1719. Completely missed this and had checked ND Admissionās Twitter/X and Instagram accounts.
S Deferred
3.99 unweighted
1500 SAT (780 math) - applied as math major
10 or 11 APs - taking 3 or 4 APs as a senior
Distinguished merit scholar
Catholic school which sends many to ND each year
No legacy
Varsity football - highest division in state
Volunteers at parish and no show stopper ecs
Congrats to all admitted. Honestly donāt know how admissions makes decisions with so many great candidates. Son was disappointed and had to counsel about how life is a marathon and this is just part of the journey. Need our kids to have perspective as this process is way too stressful now.
Disapointed S24 was rejected. 1560, NMSF, 4.0 at a competitive public school, applied to Mendoza, not catholic, good mix of ECās, varsity sports. Overall solid applicant with a regular high school experience. No one from his HS has gone to ND as far as we know. The admissions team probably predicted that he would not yield, which āmayā be correct because ND was a reach and a top 8 choice. Good luck to everyone in RD and congratulations to those who were accepted.
Try to hang in there and not take an ND deferral as a sign of negative things to come. Many applicants (including my oldest) who were deferred in the early round are ultimately admitted. Sounds like your son is very accomplished and I bet he will have many, excellent options by March.
Congrats! Do you think he will attend or will he wait to weigh all of his options?
Congratulations to all who were accepted!!
My daughter was deferred. Notre Dame is still her first choice. She feels God may want her to work on her patience and always trusts His plan.
Thank you for your response! Yesterday was a rollercoaster, for sure. He was admitted to five other schools - targets and safeties - on Thursday and Friday, so he has some great options, but ND overshadowed it all since he spent 2 weeks on campus and felt destined to attend. For reasons I donāt want to post, we are not feeling great about his chances at RD. So, there is a grieving process but I do know he is going to be okay.
