@college2022vux if you have to pick one then yes, absolutely, all other things being equal pick the legacy. In fact I can’t imagine why you would object to that. Plenty of other factors aside from pure merit tip the scales in college admissions - race, first gen college, socio-economic factors, etc. and those factors are much more powerful than legacy in that they aren’t just tie-breakers but will gain admission for candidates who have lower test scores, GPAs, fewer AP classes (and rightfully so in most cases). If candidates are otherwise roughly equal I think a school would be crazy not to consider legacy as a factor, especially Notre Dame which has such a strong sense of family.
Let’s get back to decision talk. I’m actually aggravated that ND puts people through this. Just announce it and stop playing with people.
@4X529s @northwesty I understand what your saying, and it makes a ton of sense. I am not trying to argue, I am just attempting to provide another view of the argument. I of course am biased as not a legacy kid and may not see it as a fair way. I agree that the ND family is a strong bond, and just really want to be a part of it. I apologize if it came across as hostile. So yes lets end this silly argument and focus on the real situation: acceptance.
I am certain the delay isn’t to ‘mess with us’. There are reasons; either technical or procedural. Remember, they said ‘mid December’. That isn’t until Friday.
Actually mid Dec. is the 10th through the 20th. Also, I think if they wanted to post, they could.
not true.
@coolboyrox123 hilarious. absolutely hysterical
Wow, the legacy argument is getting old. Makes me want to start a new thread. Anyway, why does it matter? Everyone’s application is sitting in one of three piles at this point. Fair or not, fate is fate! Bring on the decision! We are ready for anything.
I want to punch you so hard in the throat right now. If you applied here, I sincerely hope you don’t get in.
@northwesty and @4X529s I couldn’t agree more with what you both said. I just didn’t like some of the other comments with regard to the qualifications of legacy admits. Especially the poster that inferred that alumni give money to ND simply to gain some type of advantage to get their kids in. Alumni give money to the school - resulting in the huge endowment - not to buy favors, but because of the love for the school. The same reason there is such an amazing alumni professional network and rabid football fan base. Those are all the result of being - and feeling a part of - the ND family. I truly hope all of you on this page get to experience that feeling tonight. With that said, I will bow out of the legacy conversation now out of respect for those who have asked. I know first hand that nerves are high. Good luck to everyone!
That’s to the kid who said the decisions were up btw, good luck to everyone else.
I do not have any inside information but I feel the decisions will be tomorrow night (Wed). This is exam week and my child on campus is telling me many people will be done by Wed, even though exams continue to Friday.
I feel ND would want to get over the hump with exams first; once academics are over that hump then ND can focus more on admissions.
@ilikesportz He probably didn’t we have been dealing with those since last night
@coolboyrox123 You ought to exit this thread. Fake news is the last thing we all need. I know Don Bishop and he’s not emailing anyone at this point.
Anyone logged into nd confirm recently? Any changes on there?
Doesn’t mean anything if it still says mid-December.
But if it has changed that might be a tell (like it was in 2016).
@northwesty nothing on student applicant portal, and when i try to log in to confirm it says something like “combination not found”
I swear my heart stopped and I about threw my laptop in excitement when I saw that false alarm.
Dat – did you log into confirm.nd.edu?
That was the place that had a message a little ahead of time last year about it being updated. Who knows if it will this go round.
For anyone who wasn’t on here last night, there were several posters who wrote false alarms about decisions being out in an attempt to toy with people. So take any such comments that come before 7pm EST with a grain of salt. Especially if written by a brand new user
