DD is applying REA. 1530 superscore, 4.0 UW, 12 AP/DE courses by the end of senior year, including DE Multivariable Calc and AP German, 5s on the 7 AP tests she’s taken, Varsity cross county for 3 years, captain this year, Varsity indoor and outdoor track for 4 years, many service hours at local hospice facility, president of German Club, some other minor clubs. Awards are weak and don’t stand out. She will be applying for business or Econ. She is not very religious, but identifies more with being Catholic than anything since that’s why I am. She will not be answering the faith based supplement question. How important do you think being Catholic is?
I don’t think it’s important at all for admission purposes other than being able to articulate fit. ND is very big on service and community. Your daughter should lean into her hospice volunteering and how she will contribute and fit in on campus.
My D26 attended a leadership seminar there this summer, as long as your DD is comfortable with being surrounded by Catholicism she will be fine. There were plenty of students that did not attend Mass or light Candles at the Grotto, no one that did not attend these activities were made to feel uncomfortable. Notre Dame certainly attracts more Catholic students than the average T50 school.
