Notre Dame Transfer Fall 2010

20 miles south of Boston. I know they said they will notify until July, but getting pretty ansy here!!

Yeah…if anything, they are releasing them in waves…although, I just called my local post office and they told me that I shouldn’t expect anything to come from Indiana until tomorrow or Friday because of the holiday weekend. I don’t know if it’s the same for you…I used the date that was given earlier in this thread: May 26th to tell the Post office that’s when it was most likely sent out.

I don’t think I can handle another week of waiting…I keep having this fear that they have changed their mind since that phone call!!!

I’m sure they didn’t change their minds!! When my son called Wake on 4/21 to inquire re: status, they said they had “just mailed the letter today” – didn’t receive until May 10th!!! Normally, we never have long delays with the USPS – figures the one we did have was a college acceptance letter!

Son hasn’t rec’d call or anything from ND and pretty sure he’d be one of the ones who’d have to take a math course over the summer – ah well, good things come to those who wait??

I don’t know, this waiting is literally killing me! I stay at home and wait for the mail, only to be disappointed! Tomorrow…it better be here…

Since some people have received packets and others(like myself) have not, is it possible that we are at a disadvantage in the lottery for getting into the dorms? Or maybe do they wait until they have all the transfer acceptances and then draw the numbers for rooms?

That’s a really good question…to those of you who have gotten your packets already, what exactly is in the packet?

Son just rec’d a thin envelope from Northwestern. Now just waiting to hear from ND. Does anyone think calling Admissions to check on the status is helpful?? Deposit deadline for another school is fast approaching and hate to put down the $ if ND is going to say “yes” to him.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Myoneandonly: Yes, you should do that. My friend just did that yesterday and they gave him an answer over the phone, because of that specific reason of needing an answer ASAP.

In my packet I got the acceptance letter, calendar, a 2 page instructions sheet for transfer students, a confirmation agreement, family information, campus map, and medical history and physical report. On the instructions for transfer students, it says “After you return your enrollment confirmation card, you will be mailed detailed instructions regarding activating your Net ID and Notre Dame email account. Directions explaining how to apply online for housing also will be included.”

All the housing is done via email. I sent back my deposit and confirmation card on the 25th so it’s almost been two weeks. In the mean time, I did get another letter saying they received my confirmation card (but no Net ID information included) and my packet on financial aid. My friend who goes there now said that last year the housing application was only “Do you wish to apply for housing?” and you just check yes. No matter how they do the housing it will be bad for some people. If they notify people now but then wait to send the log in stuff after June 30th then people who have already paid the $500 might get mad they have to wait so long. If they send the log in stuff after you send in your deposit, then people who do not get notified until later will be upset. I wish my log in stuff will come today, but in the chance I don’t get housing I’ve already been looking at off-campus living arrangements. Hope this is helpful!

Yeah, very helpful, thanks!

I’ve already decided, primarily for money issues, that I’m going to be doing off campus housing. I found some amazing apartments that aren’t far from campus at all in the 500-600 range. For someone who grew up in Southern California and lived in NoCal for a bit, these prices seem absolutely amazing!

I’m just worried about signing up for classes, surely that must be done all at once for transfer students?

Out of curiousity CjKing, what was your friend’s decision from ND??

housing comes after they have accepted everyone they are going to from transfers. so just because you are accepted early doesn’t mean you have a better chance of getting housing. I am pretty sure the list is still very small on who has gotten in on transfers.

I was hoping they would be able to tell me if i would get housing before i decided to go there, but that isn’t the case.

He got in. :)

Interestingly, they said they still haven’t sent out his letter and would do so next week. Again, I have no idea what they’re waiting on.

Does anyone know when we get to even sign up for classes as transfer students?

My son’s packet indicates that transfer students will not sign up for classes until after they meet with an advisor after August 19th during new student orientation. There is no need to be on campus prior to the start of new student orientation.

Wow, okay…has anyone already decided that they would want to live in an apartment off campus?

myoneandonly: did they tell you as well? I want to wait for an envelope to find out the decision but the wait is killing me!

Son working this a.m. - may call later today - kinda nervous to hear the response though, although it would be good to know if he’s going to Wake, BC, or ND!!!

Wooooo, letter finally came today. It was dated June 4th, just fyi.

Congrats, CjKing! Know you were anxious to receive it!! Son called today but Admissions was out from 11:30-1:00. He’s going to try tomorrow – although they’ve only had his final transcript for about 8 days – do you think it’s being too pushy to ask for a decision or should we just wait??

Well, if I remember correctly, you have a reason to ask because of the summer class thing. I think it’s important that you find out…I mean, could you wait until the end of this week?
