My S was accepted to Nova for Software Engineering. Does anyone have any thoughts about this program there? I know they are strong in the Sciences, but are they well known for Engineering?
.
Where else has your son been admitted, and what are his stats (weighted GPA, unweighted, ACT score, APs/IB/AICE classes?)
I went there for two years.
The software engineering and computer science/engineering majors were part of the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences when I was there, but now it seems like they’re moving over to a new college next year. Nova is actively improving, or at least that was the impression I got from my time there.
I took a year of programming at Nova and I knew some computer/software eng. majors. Overall, the school’s not insanely challenging (usually depends on your major and courseload), but you will still have to work in class. However much extra work you put in for your own gain will depend on you–a lot of my classmates were more than content with just getting by.
There are many quality professors there, though–especially in the CSIS–who are always friendly and open for office hours.
Btw, they don’t have any other engineering majors besides computer/software that I’m aware of.
