NSA Stokes Scholarship 2014

Hey ya’ll, it’s that time of the year again. I just finished my online application and will send in the rest of my documents ASAP
I scanned through all the other Stokes post but am still curious with the semi-finalists’ stats. Please feel free to share, I’m becoming anxious. :-S

Here’s mine (HS senior).

I’m going for computer science, as well.

Good luck

So, I just finished my online portion, and am waiting to take the SAT and ACT again so I can mail my physical portion in. My Stats are CRAZY low, but I think I have some unique aspects that I think will help me.

ACT: 25
SAT: 1590
GPA: 2.73
Rank: 54%
APs/Honors: Stats, CompSci, MacroEco, US History, English Language, Honors World History 9/10, Honors English 9/10
Work Experience: I’ve worked in government facilities before including IT facilities and Top Secret information offices.
Languages: Java, Python, AS2/3, HTML, CSS, C++, C#

I’m going for Computer Science as my major.

I’m extremely nervous about this whole ordeal… I just really hope I get in. Does anybody have more information on how many people make it to the semi-finals? What the semi-finalists have to do? A rough timeline? And the semi-finalsts’ stats? So many questions!

So I’m in the process of sending all my paperwork in. Here’s my stats:
Act: 29, just retook it and I feel I scored about a 30 or 31 this time
GPA: 3.8 UW
Rank: #7
APs not offered at my high school
work experience: 3 year intern at Ch:14
Languages: C++

I’m going for Computer Science as well.
I’m also a member of the National Honor Society.

I’m really hoping that I’ll make it in!

I’m applying as well, female from a competitive high school in Maryland
SAT - 2280 Single Sitting Math 2-760 US History-750
GPA - 4.0 UW 4.38 W
Rank - 24/461
AP’s - 5’s on US History, World History, English Lang, Computer Science A, currently enrolled in Calc BC, US Gov, English Lit, Stats, Physics 1
Honors - 4 years in Project Lead the Way Engineering curriculum, chem, bio, etc.
Languages - mostly java, basic understanding of HTML and C++

Undecided whether I’m going for Computer science or engineering, I listed both in my online application, but I’m leaning more towards computer science. I’ve already been accepted to Stanford University class of 2019, so hoping this will give me an edge? Who knows really, it’s been so hard to find information about this scholarship.

Good luck to everyone!!

So, does anybody have any information about this scholarship? I can’t seem to find very much about it online.

@salientsnake4 basically all you need to know can be found here: <a href=“National Security Agency Careers | Apply Now”>National Security Agency Careers | Apply Now;

The deadline is November 15 so if you haven’t started, you should probably do so now!
I heard if you are selected as a semi-finalist, they’ll email you and schedule a phone interview then fly you out to Maryland.

It isn’t appearing for me either. Hopefully they just removed it temporarily…since it’s still before the deadline.

Hello! I was wondering if anyone knew exactly how many people have signed up for the scholarship this year; if anyone could tell me that would be great. Thank you

Hey. I have no clue. It seems like they keep information about the scholarship very well hidden. @tigerlily46‌

Has anyone gotten a confirmation email yet? I had all my forms sent in a few days before the deadline as well, and I haven’t heard. I tried calling the two numbers on the website a few minutes ago and no one answered either. Thoughts?

I got an email saying they have everything except my transcript. I emailed it today so I am done now. The email said it needed to be submitted by this Friday to be considered for the scholarship. Maybe confirmation emails will go out next week. @spark2019‌

@mathmaticious okay so maybe just an email for people who had things missing from their packet, that makes me feel better, as i mailed all of my things in together and if they didn’t email me about not having my transcripts it means it all got there alright. Thank you!

I’m a computer aide in the High School Work Study program at NSA right now who also has applied. Through the internal NSA internet I emailed one of the admissions officers and she said semi-finalists are notified at the end of January/beginning of February and they plan on accepting 15-20 applicants as finalists.

Great! Thanks for the info! @tew3bud‌

Well it looks like I didn’t make it. I just got an email saying that they have reviewed all the applications and that I was not selected. Good luck!

Did anyone ever receive notification that the completed application was received (not just the online form)?

@yahui125‌ I did, but that’s because they said they were missing stuff. I emailed them back and they realized they had everything they needed. -_- Unless you’re missing something they probably won’t send you anything.

Has anyone heard anything from them yet? I got a confirmation email from them a while ago but since then have heard nothing :frowning:

I have heard nothing as well. @KenzieCAV1‌ ‌
