@JustinH From what I understand, the Russian finalists tend to hear first due to a more complicated visa process.

@reecie569 , I applied to a lot of schools, and I am waiting to hear back from most. My Early Action was Harvard, and I was hugely surprised to hear that I was accepted. I am still unsure where I would like to go next year, but things are not looking gloomy at least! 
AH so many new people! I havent been on this thread for a while and I had over 50 notifications! Welcome new people! I’ll introduce myself again! I’m a sophomore and I applied for China Summer as my top choice. I didn’t put a 2nd or 3rd choice on my app because I didn’t know that was a common thing but at my interview my interviewer asked if I were to get accepted but China was full (since it is the most popular program) would I be willing to have a 2nd or 3rd choice? And I of course said yes! So my next choices are: Russian Summer and Arabic Summer! I don’t know if that was a good question my interviewer asked but I think she was just trying to look out for me! She made a note of it. I really hope that we all get accepted and that our summer will be filled with adventure!

@Schnuff3 I have to get my passport as well! Hopefully I can go to the post office this week and turn in my forms! I’m afraid it wont get in on time to start the visa process

I’m a semifinalist for the Russia summer (if not Russia then Tajikistan or Turkey), and I’ve been accepted to the University of St Andrews in Scotland with a concentration in Russian, Spanish, and International Relations. I’d love to go to St A’s, but I’m still waiting to hear back from most of my schools
@wardra just out of curiosity, which school in France? That sounds like something I’d be interested in doing haha

Hi everyone! Like a dozen other people, I’m new to this thread too. I’m a junior and I’m a semifinalist for India summer. So far I haven’t met anyone else who has applied to India summer for first choice- do you guys know anyone?
@Schnuff3 I was almost finished my application for CBYX but never did. They just emailed me today saying that they pushed the deadline to February 15th. How have you already been notified of being a semifinalist?
@JustinH I’m pretty sure CBYX operates on a more regional basis than NSLI-Y, so living in a different area changes how and when things happen
@JustinH Yes! live in the CIEE region of the U.S., which has some of the most applicants apply. Our deadline was Dec. 16 to accommodate our large number of applicants. Do you want to see my CBYX essays for inspiration? Good luck!

I’m also waiting to hear back from Georgetown! As of right now, I may end up at Boston College or Colorado College, but I have about 8 more to hear back from. Hoping for Georgetown, Hopkins, or Tufts for IR

@wardra I speak English and French fluently, and I haven’t spoken it in quite a while, but I used to be conversational in Spanish. I’m currently learning Russian, but want to start Polish or German over the Summer if I stay in the U.S. What about you?

@Schnuff3 I speak English, Spanish and Portuguese really and currently I am relearning French (I used to speak it but I didn’t use it for a long time and I forgot most of it. ) and I’m working on some Russian. I am hoping to start learning German and Italian sometime within the next 2 years. Where did you learn French and Spanish?
