@katewithak All three??? Congrats! Are you leaning towards a particular program?
@jjtell11 If I remember correctly, the finalists for Russian summer started getting notifs on Feb. 28th last year, so sadly it looks like we’re right on track with last year’s schedule
@wequre I think some past applicants said they can be spread out over multiple days because there are sometimes multiple implementing organizations within the same county/program
@2Klever Korea is one of the last to find out usually, both summer and year. I have to wait until year decisions come out
Hey quick question, I know that rejections come out last, but do they come out after every program finds out or after all programs find out so probably after Korea finds out? I am pretty sure they wait after all programs but I am just wondering. I just wish they gave rejections out with acceptances so they wouldn’t give us false hope… it would also help with the seniors who have to defer a year from college… oh whatever… I am just really anxious even though I won’t find out whether I got accepted or rejected until the end of March for Korea summer >~<
I am not sure but I wouldn’t think they would count that much. If you take it from me, 2.5 is the minimum and that is pretty low. I think good grades are important because it shows your ability to retain information but honestly I think Nsli-y looks for people who are passionate about their language choice and are willing to try hard and use their language in the future.
Hi! I just got my acceptance letter for Tajikistan 2015-2016! So excited. I’m looking to reach out to anyone else who’s going to Tajikistan this summer.
@jjtell11 Oops, sorry this reply is kind of late haha. I actually self-studied Korean for a few years before going to Korea, but I didn’t use any kind of online lessons or books. I literally learned just from Korean music, tv shows, and my Korean friends. I listened to a lot of music and watched a LOT of variety shows (which I think are way better to learn from than dramas cause drama lines aren’t exactly practical Korean you’d be using), but I think I learned the most from my Korean friends! I have a lot of Korean friends (many are exchange students) that range from knowing absolutely no English to pretty good English… I text in Korean with them all the time [and one even corrects my grammar for me] and being around them speaking Korean taught me a lot, more than you’d expect. I was placed in the intermediate class [and was one of the more advanced students in that class] in Korea, and at the end of the program I was like a low advanced!! I improved SOOO much with my Korean it was crazy! My grammar [cause I never studied grammar before], vocabulary, and confidence speaking (which helped with lots of things) were so much better after the program! WOW this is long, sorry… I have a great example of how I changed confidence-wise when speaking but this comment is already long lol. Hopefully it answered your question
@EmmaPotts 99% sure rejections come out after all the alternates and finalists are notified~~
Please don’t say that. It has only been one day. They usually don’t release notifications all in one day so you still have a chance on making it. Plus, the office is closed on weekends so don’t fret. Don’t count yourself out until you get an email in your inbox telling you otherwise. ^^
Hey guys, I applied to the Turkish program, and I’ve yet to hear anything. I haven’t seen it mentioned here yet-- does anyone know anyone who applied and if they got in? Thanks!
@reecie569 I can’t remember exactly when China summer came out, but I know it was just a few days before mine (Korea summer) came out on March 31st. China summer was second to last of summer programs to come out… maybe 20th something?
