Hi everyone! I’m also pretty late to join the forum, but I’ve been skimming through since I got my semi finalist notification. I applied for 1. Korean summer 2. Chinese summer and 3. Russian summer. I’m a junior at a magnet school in NC

Only looked through this thread quickly but glad I found it… I’m a finalist for Russia (Moscow) for this summer of 2015…hi @Ginnymills !
Also semi-finalist for CBYX and feeling conflicted. I’m supposed to accept or reject NSLI-Y by this Friday. And I can only choose one.
@waldeinsamkeit it really depends what language your more interested in (based on your screen name i’m guessing german 
) if you feel like you have a solid chance of being a finalist for CBYX and you want to be in germany go for it!
Of course there always is the option of accepting the NSLI-Y scholarship now, and then politely declining if you get a different scholarship you would prefer to go with. I’m not sure what the consequences would be though.
So my friend who applied for Turkish summer got an email about his med forms(he didn’t send in all the papers by accident), so maybe they’re about to start notifying those finalists soon?
I applied for Russian summer as my first choice and Turkish summer as my 2nd. I got an email about 2 days ago asking me to correct certain things on my medical forms and send them out by the 11th. Don’t know if that helps @screenname16
I applied for Arabic Year and got the same email @screenname16

@wequre Thanks for your support! Heheh it is a lovely word, isn’t it? I think what I’ll do is read NSLI-Y’s incredibly long terms and conditions and see exactly what those consequences are. And another potential CBYX participant recommended to me that I call NSLI-Y and ask for an extension…so maybe I’ll try that as well.
I’ve gotten into this awful habit of re-reading my application over and over again! Over analysis is a life killer guys, hoping I can focus on other things till the deed is done!

Hmm any guesses who will get notifications today?! I’m really hoping China summer will hear~ everyone please please keep us updated. Also @wequre and @Ellisfeath I’ve reread my essays about a million times…it’s bad lol
I hate the days that it takes it get to Fridays normally, but now I hate them even more because now I am waiting for notifications and ugh >~< The worst thing about waiting for me is not email checking, ( I have made it a point to only check my email once a day ^^ ) it is when my friends ask me when I will find out. I’m glad they are interested but it just reminds me even more to the fact that I have a long way to go before Korea summer hears. This is all so agonizing, but I do have to say that because I am trying to keep my mind off of everything, I have done extremely well on my homework these past weeks Any of you guys relate?
Maybe it’s because I’m a senior and have serious senioritis but I’ve had the opposite happen to me! The other day, I spent an hour looking at the past China Year program’s blogs instead of studying for a Chinese dictation. Does anyone know for the China Year program how they place students? Like if I’ve studied longer do I have a better shot at being out in Shanghai or another big city?

@jjtell11 @screenname16 @wardra @katewithak I’m applying for Russian year, and I got that e-mail as well even though I sent in all my med-forms already. NSLI-Y said they lost alot of the year applicant’s papers this year.

I’ve officially accepted NSLI-Y for Moscow…it was a hard decision but I feel like I made the right choice. Anyone else going to Moscow?
