@ThinkOn Thanks for the info, how did you figure this out? Do you know several that have been accepted?
I don’t think I got accepted:(
Do parents get an email notification as well, or just students? My daughter is an Arabic applicant, so I suspect we have a good bit more time to wait, but it would really be nice to get an email at the same time!
@yearstogo Based on the kids who are finalist and where they go based on their Russian experience (friend’s kids, kids from my son’s school and the various blogs created by NSLI-Y alumni). My son has experience studying Russian and he is going to Moldova. His classmate has no experience and is going to Moscow. Hope this helps.
Congrats to all those accepted. For those waiting, don’t lose hope, not just yet.
@sapmom Only the students receive email notification. My son received his just after 4 EST.
All the finalist notifs are usually sent around the same time, but for those still waiting, alternate spots are sent the same time as rejections! Still have hope.
Notifications for each language are generally sent around the same time, but the languages are not all notified at the same time. I suspect Arabic will be within 2 weeks.
@katcatkat, that’s correct. In the past, even certain languages have taken a couple of days to get notifications out. By around the same time, I mean over the course of a couple of days. It appears today some Russian, Persian, and Hindi notifications went out, but that doesn’t mean some won’t come out on Monday.
@katcatkat I hope what you read is right
I doubt any more will come out today…long wait til Monday…
Good luck!!
Just got notified I am a finalist for the Russian summer program in Moscow with ACES. Anyone else?
p.s. got email around 4 (EST) this afternoon
@katcatkat I have very little experience with Russian. I can read Cyrillic and know a few phrases but that’s about it.
My daughter has been accepted for Hindi summer in Indore, India!
Going to Kirov, Russia! Chance of a lifetime.
@gmwilson I’ll be going to Chisinau too! We should make a chat group for those going to Moldova
I am going to Moscow too, but mine says with RAF. Do you think we’ll be in the same group?
Do you guys think they’ll be sending out more Russian notifications next week? And how do they send them out? By implementing organization, by last name?
From what we have seen there have not been any notifications sent out for Russian summer in Estonia. Someone upthread posted that they believe Estonia is for those with a higher level of speaking Russian, although from looking at prior years that did not seem to hold true. I have read blogs from folks from prior years that stated everything related to a language does not all come out on the same day, but others have posted differently…lots of conflicting info out there.
In any case, it seems that not getting a notification Friday was definitely not a positive development, all is not lost yet…
@yearstogo Okay, thank you. I emailed NSLI-Y asking about this so hopefully they can give me a certain answer, because as you said everyone gives out conflicting information.
