SEMI FOR KOREA AY!!! let’s start the gc!!!

Our son is AY semi-finalist for Mandarin. He was in China for the summer. It was very good for him, and we were very thankful. We are elated right now.

His host mother was apparently sort of annoying with the constant picture-taking, but before he departed the host family gifted him with a book of prints of many photos from his time with them. He was very moved (we all were), and it was a brilliant gift. We treasure the photos.

We wish all of you semi-finalists the best of luck. Study abroad can be life-changing, even when it is hard and you get homesick.

okay just a question guys! i was accepted as a semifinalist for mandarin but i don’t know which program. i applied to mandarin for both ay and summer, but it doesn’t tell me whether i was accepted as a semifinalist for ay or summer. do y’all have any idea where i can find that information? or should i just assume that it is based off of my first preference?

@medusozoa it doesn’t actually let you know what program, but usually people get accepted to their first or none. However, I have heard of a few people getting their second choice or a different language due to issues in their first choice country.

Does anyone know what percentage of semi-finalists actually end up being finalists???

semi finalist for korean summer btw ??

@swimmerboy123 I feel like I’m the FAQ lol, perks of living for this scholarship for three years. About 1200 applicants are chosen as semi-finalists and about 600 are finalists.
Last year I think they accepted a few more semi-finalists… maybe
