Has anyone ever heard about an applicant who previously completed an AY exchange being accepted to a summer program? I spent the last year on exchange in France through Rotary (so it’s not the same program) and am currently a semi-finalist for Arabic first choice, Chinese second choice. I know on the website it says that they give strong preference to applicants who haven’t lived outside the US for more than six months in the last five years, do I have a chance??

I’m Lina and I have my interview for Arabic 2020 Summer in one week. I just wanted to know if anybody else applied for the same thing or if you guys have any tips for the interview.
Chinese Summer semifinalist here, haven’t been contacted for an interview yet 
I think it’s because there’s nobody in my area to conduct an interview, since my friend who’s a semifinalist as well hasn’t been contacted either, and someone I know who went last year said she had to drive 2 hours away for her interview. The email says not to contact NSLI-Y about it until the 20th, but it’s really bugging me. Oh well.
