I just found out that I’ve been awarded an NSLI-Y scholarship! This is a State Dept. program to promote the study of languages like Arabic, Chinese, and Russian and the program is merit based and (I think) pretty competitive. Does it make sense to notify Princeton (and the other ivies I’ve applied to) of the award? Any chance that it will do any good at this late date? I was admitted to University of Chicago early action, but Princeton is really my first choice.

I would have to say it wouldn’t do much good at this point. It’s 12 days to decision day; I’d hazard to guess most of the decisions have already been reached. I reported a major award I won in late February, and I’m not even sure that that was timely enough. It’s unfortunate you had to find out so late, but I still congratulate you on it, it sounds like a fantastic achievement.

Just do it. It may also help for Waitlist

Did you find out via email or regular post? DD is beside herself with the wait and is hoping she’ll find out soon.

Thanks for the responses. My counselor told me to let them know, so I did. ddsearcy-- I was notified by e-mail. Good luck to your daughter.
