Agreed…hopefully they’re right that the EO’s won’t affect our programs. We’re already so deep in the application cycle. Also, it would be really sad if they cancelled the programs for 2026-2027. I remember wanting to apply last February and going through that long wait for the applications to open.

for any alumni, I am a senior in high school so is it worth it for me to go abroad for a year with FLEX/YES or NSLI-Y ?
March is in THREE days y’all… it is almost time!
I mean, I’m not an alumni, but imo doing a fully funded scholarship program to live overseas for a year seems worth it…

I understand your hesitation; senior year is already crazy and trying to decide whether it’s worth it or not to go abroad is challenging, especially since you’re also dealing with college applications. Ultimately I think it’s a personal choice. I can’t tell you if it’ll be worth it for you; while I think it would be an amazing opportunity and 100% would accept it myself, it might be different for you. It’s definitely a huge move to make and luckily you still have a few weeks to decide (provided you’re accepted) so you have time to think it through. I personally can’t imagine I’d ever get a chance like this again and I would take the chance to go abroad in a heartbeat, but again, I’m not you and your priorities/goals might be different than mine. So yeah. I’m not much help unfortunately

I’m in that weird phase of ‘it’s so close! Aaaaah! Slow down! I don’t wanna know yet! I don’t want my dreams to get crushed!’ and ‘Hurry up I’ve been waiting FOREVERRRRRRRRR!’ These next few weeks are gonna kill me 
I don’t think any alumni are on this forum (don’t quote me!) It’s mostly applicants. I have seen some alumni blogs with emails that you can reach out to though! maybe try over there? but i also agree with agirlwithdreams - you’re the only one who ccan really find out what’s worth it for you. good luck : )

I’d try the Discord server? My kid is a NSLI-Y alum but isn’t on here. A few from her program are probably there.

Does anyone know the release dates for last year’s NSLI-Y Summer decisions? Specifically for Persian?
officially as per my last email from them: March to late April (~2 months!!)
from cross-referencing the release dates from previous years: ~March 28th. I hope it comes sooner rather than later. I can’t imagine waiting another two months, but there’s no real definite date. Different countries do come out at different times and this is all for Korean Summer, so it may vary by a week or so.

I do not have a for sure answer, but summer programs are usually released in March or early April!

I just wanted to say that I did Mandarin VSI (Virtual Summer Intensive) last year and my decision came on March 22. I believe the Mandarin Summer abroad acceptances come out earlier, but if anyone knows exact past dates for those, I’d really appreciate it, as I’m a semifinalist for it again this year.
