This reminds me of talks I’ve had with my kid at 16-17 about sex, pot, drinking. I told her that I would prefer that she wait, but I would understand if she didn’t; just don’t ask for my blessing. And of course that I am always there if she needs to talk. (And of course that I will pick her up from anywhere she feels uncomfortable, no questions asked.)

I’ve just never felt that it was my job as a parent to facilitate my unmarried kids’ sex lives in my home. I think it’s interesting to read other parents’ take on it but I’m not swayed in the slightest by those who are happy to buy their kids larger beds or otherwise endorse their semi-adult offspring having partners share a bedroom while visiting. I can’t see the harm in my taking this position.

Of course, I have no control over what they do elsewhere. That’s their business and they are old enough and I hope, smart enough to conduct themselves wisely, as they have been taught. Still, I have no more interest in being the “cool” mom who supports co-ed sleepovers than I did when the cool parents let their underage kids have parties where alcohol was served.

Ive stated that I supported my daughters relationships, but I do not think that I or anyone else that acknowledges that their adult unmarried children have sexual lives, does so, because we think it will make us “cool”.
Thats a ridiculous supposition.

Playing host to my adult daughters and their partners isnt " facilitating" anyones sex lives. @@
They already spend the majority of their time elsewhere and being a sig other is about way more than sex.
