NYE and alcohol advice

@Nrdsb4

Correct. I’m using the term “minor” as many do in the hospitality business. Check those IDs, watch out for minors (underage drinkers).

As others have mentioned, there are similar legal liabilities (social host & dram shop) – fair or not, it’s there.

Though I’d be relaxed about a toast, this talk of 18 year olds being “adult” confuses the matter, imo. The law that they need to be 21 to drink supercedes, no?

When referring to laws, it may be best to carefully distinguish between >=21, 18-20, and <=17 specifically to avoid confusion with terms like “minor”. It is entirely possible that some places have laws relating to alcohol that apply differently to 18-20 versus <=17.

In our household, we are all fans of carbonated apple cider. We all enjoy it and it avoided legal quandaries. Our “kids” are 29 and 31 and we still mostly prefer sparkling cider though we like a range of other beverages as well now too.

I wouldn’t serve anyone under 21 alcohol—just wouldn’t.
