A new NYT game just debuted called “Strands”:

Gave it a go, and here’s my result, using hints liberally to learn how the game is played:

Interesting. Once I knew what the theme was, it was easy. Trying to figure out how to interpret the results shared though? Does it mean you used three hints? Why the difference in size in the circles?

Thanks for the link! My NY Times games subscription doesn’t have this yet, but I tried it using your link. This is what I got:

I never liked word searches and definitely too easy for the way my mind works. But it’s a cute idea.

Yes, those lightbulbs are how many hints I used. I don’t know why the bottom circles are larger, but the yellow circle is “spangram,” the word that the rest of words have in common.

Not that easy for me and the hints didn’t always seem to come through, even if I found a word that was not in the theme.

Once I found a word it was easy. I just looked for other words that fit the theme and then looked for the theme word.

The bubbles in the bottom row are larger because of how CC formats emojis/icons when they’re on a line without text.

That was, uh, interesting. I read the instructions quickly but when I saw the board I was surprised it was much larger than the example, which left me feeling like I should’ve read the instructions better. Just finding any word to get a hint seemed silly. I used a hint just to see how they worked, but once you got that hint it was really easy.
