Now that we’ve all been been nominated by our counsellors to NYUAD with the exception of Osama :P. Let’s discuss how we would answer we would answer the NYU supplement essay on why we choose that campus; in our case the AD campus. So why did you guys choose the AD campus?

@AlbrtO I would say be very specific. Pick things unique to the Abu Dhabi campus (which you feel are representative of why you want to attend), and work from there. But I can’t stress this enough - answer the question. Oftentimes, in hopes of impressing an admissions officer, people write witty and sharp essays which have nothing to do with the prompt. So stick with answering the question, using proper grammar and punctuation, and you should be fine. :)

Guys, I’m getting really worried. I am heading to the airport for C.W. in an hour but I am really scared that the fact that all my counselor ever did was fill the evaluation on common app. She didn’t do the nomination form thingy.

Since I am considering a career in Journalism, should my intended major be literature and creative writing or film and new media?

hey! look don’t worry man, the nomination is meant to help you get the candidate weekend, and you’ve already got that so there’s nothing to worry about love =D

i guess once you’re there you can ask people about your major, but i’d probably say lit =)

best of luck this weekend, make sure you impress x

It was absolutely great!
I’m just a little confused right now, because I thought decision will be send out on the 15th, but now Albert tells me that it’s the 18th. Anybody any idea on whether that applies to Abu Dhabi decision as well?
Thanks a bunch :)

How was candidate weekend guys? also, I have something that is bothering me quite a bit. Um, when counselors send in nominations, are all their writing portions located on the account or do they save them elsewhere? My counselor accessed her account from a different computer when she sent mine at last minute, since she had some family issues abroad. Did she write it from scratch or was it already there?? I’m worried that the one she wrote from scratch wasn’t as good :(

@HangingOnStars, the CW was absolutely amazing. You definitely have something to look forward to And as for the nominations, I’m assuming if she uploaded her writing online, then it won’t matter what computer she is using. If something was wrong, I’m sure she would have told you.

@osamasayegh, I think we get rejection letters. And @PeaceDove, I got an email from Lisa Taylor saying that the results will be sent to us on the 18th, so it looks like that has been confirmed as well.

Gah, I am so nervous! Best of luck to you all!

Are any other ED1ers insanely nervous about Tuesday?! I’m so so scared, I want this so bad! Sorry to be annoying and whiney but I need to vocalise this and my family and friends are fed up with me going on about NYUAD :p

unfathomable, yes, got that one too. Now there are 4 days left instead of one… oh my.
LizaTB, no, totally understand you. I can’t wait. It doesn’t even matter if it’s positive or negative, I just need to know because this is sorta driving me wild ^^’

PeaceDove I’m so glad I’m not the only one! Although to keep me calm I’m reading more about John Sexton on wikipedia and now I’m feeling really cool because he hugged me :p

I HAVE A QUESTION!!! I’m an IGCSE student and I want to apply to NYU Abu Dhabi, so could You tell me whether my grades and extraculicular activities good enough or not:

.Out of my 8 OL subjects I got 7 A*s and 1 A
.I got A in Math AL, A in Arabic AL, B in Physics AL and B in chemistry AS
.I have done community service in helping senior citizens and making the senior class yearbook. I have also taken extra German language courses, and I have 2 medals in the sport of taekwondo and 7 different belt certificates.
.I am an “independent representative” in the network marketing company Q-net and after about 3 months I am going to enroll in MUN (Model United Nations)

PLEASE reply and tell me if you think whether this is good enough for NYU Abu Dhabi or not. Thank You :).

All of you who attended the CW, can you give an idea what is it that NYU AD specifically looks for in a candidate? And is admission into NYU AD more difficult than that into NYU NY?

If I listed on my NYU App that NYU New York is my first choice but I also put the “consider me for NYU Abu Dhabi” too, and assuming NYU New York accepts me, is there any chance NYU Abu Dhabi will fly me to Abu Dhabi for Candidate Weekend?

I submitted my app two months ago, but I’ve realized that I’d rather go to NYU Abu Dhabi than NYU New York; I don’t know whether I should contact admissions about that.

Adamgeek, did you apply regular decision? You should definitely notify them that you want to switch the order of preference for the campuses–if you would rather NYUAD, that should be your top choice on your application:) I just went to the ED Candidate Weekend and it was an incredible experience, I would really recommend applying to NYUAD!!
