NYU Abu Dhabi

@pimienta
How was the CW? can you tell me anything at all which might be of aid to me? i’m applying to NYU AD

Joey191, Dude, judging by your stats, you seem like an Egyptian :stuck_out_tongue: just like me. I suggest you don’t apply as I know people applying this year from Egypt who have much stronger stats. Your stats can get you a great scholarship elsewhere however, NYUAD, is exceptionally hard to get into so I suggest NYUNY instead.

@osamasayegh

hey can you share your stats? Also do you knw what is it that NYU AD weighs most in an application- anything that may help enhance the application?

@osamasayegh I’m going to respectfully disagree with you here. I don’t believe anyone should be discouraged from applying just because they don’t have achievements which you believe are noteworthy.

@Joey191 Objectively, my IGCSEs weren’t as good as yours, but I was still able to secure a CW invitation (couldn’t go in December, going in January though). Full disclosure: I was a self-taught home-school student at O-Level, teaching myself eleven subjects, so I’m sure they took that into consideration. My advice to you would be to not let anyone discourage you from applying if that’s what you truly want to do. I remember receiving an automated email from Shawn Abbott (one I believe we all received), iterating something along the lines of, ‘We look forward to reading your story.’ I just thought that was so beautiful. It relayed that they’re looking for more than just grades and scores on a paper. In conclusion to this painfully draggy message, follow your gut, present your truth, and all should be fine. Good luck to you! :slight_smile:

@Adamgeek Just to clarify, you applied to both NYU New York and NYU Abu Dhabi for ED1 and you would like to switch your priority campus from New York to Abu Dhabi? If I’m not confused, and that’s your situation, I don’t think that’s possible at this point. My reasoning relies on the fact that ED1 CW has already taken place, and your decision for both campuses will be released on December 18th. Without attending a CW, admission to NYUAD will not take place. You could try reapplying to NYUAD for EDII maybe? I could be totally wrong in this, by the way, and I think it’s best to contact the admissions office. Good luck. :slight_smile:

@hsawok The general census is that we usually hear two to three weeks before a CW if we’ve been invited. I know for us ED1ers, we received invitations on the 17th of November, almost three weeks before the December CW. If you’d like a more precise idea, I’d suggest going back in the thread and looking for last year’s January CW invitation posts! Good luck. :slight_smile:

I am feeling nervous, anxious, and a bit nauseous for all my fellow ED1ers! Decision’s tomorrow! Ugh, I wish you all the best. You have no idea how much I want each and every single one of you to get it. Here’s to making our dreams come true. :)

I agree with @FrancaiseLove, I considered myself to be an extremely unlikely candidate for NYUAD, my grades were lower than most people applying and I have no where near the ECs of others that I have spoken to. However I was invited to CW - I don’t know why they liked me but they were definitely looking for more than just grades. I’m so glad that I had friends who coerced me into applying when I doubted myself, without them I wouldn’t be nervously waiting on tomorrow’s email!

@Joey191 Go for it! I wish you the best of luck :)

Good luck to everyone that is currently applying/waiting for a CW invitation, and good luck to all those waiting to hear tomorrow!
